- Cooma Tigers U23 are in hot form, winning four of their last five in the league, including 7-0 and 5-0 hammerings of Brindabella Blues U23 and O'Connor Knights U23 respectively.
- Juventus, in contrast, have been inconsistent, winning two, drawing two and losing one of their last five league games.
- Cooma are the most prolific attack in the Capital Territory NPL Youth League, scoring 32+ goals this season.
Tigers have teeth for a win in title race
A clash of attacking styles and philosophies will take place in the Capital Territory Premier League U23 2026 on Sunday when Cooma Tigers U23 head to face Canberra Juventus U23. Tigers' club-wide youth program and coaching staff has given the club a new identity and firepower this season, with a high-tempo, attack-first philosophy that has seen them take the top spot in the division with around 21 points and the best goal difference of any club.
Juventus, who are mid-to-upper table on around 14-15 points, need to keep pace with the leading pack by taking the three points on Sunday, but they face a tough task against the division's most prolific strikeforce. Alexander Couldrick's brace in the 7 - 0 win over Brindabella Blues U23, which followed a 5 - 0 thrashing of O'Connor Knights U23, has put the visitors in a strong position to win this matchup if they play with the same intensity.
Tigers can be expected to do the majority of the chasing and their direct, high-tempo style should create plenty of opportunities if they can get their pressing game working. Juventus are a little more structured, with Frank Barresi's men working hard to build up play through midfield. They will look to press the opposition when they can, but not at the risk of getting overrun, preferring to work for their chances and pick off transitions.
Juventus can trouble visiting forwards
The 0-0 draw between these sides on April 15th in the U23 league fixture was a tight and low-scoring affair, but the Over 2.5 goals market comes in at 1.26, which is far too short for our taste. Tigers are the hot favourites at 1.42, with Juventus the battlers at 5.05, and both price points appear to be a little too one-sided.
The recent form of the two clubs, the depth of the visiting attack and the league positions of the respective sides, all point to a Cooma win, but Juventus showed their own attacking talent when they hammered Canberra White Eagles U23 5-1 away from home and they could score a goal or two here.
Angus Murray, Thomas Barbatano and Alex Taurasi have all got on the scoresheet for Barresi's boys in recent weeks and they will need to find some consistency in front of goal if they are to push the leaders all way this term. Jack Gibson, Tanatswa Bvirakare and Jordan Forka all scored in the 5 - 0 trouncing of O'Connor, and Canberrans will have to be on their toes to keep that trio quiet.
