An attacking battle in the top end
Darwin Hearts welcome Port Darwin FC to the ground for what should be an interesting fixture on Thursday. Hearts will be looking to take advantage of their home record in this fixture, having not lost to Port in either of the previous two encounters, while Port will be keen to extend their strong start to the campaign.
Darwin Hearts have struggled at home of late, losing their most recent match. They currently occupy fifth place in the NTDPL 2026, with 17 points from 12 games. Hearts have been in mixed form of late, suffering a 3-4 home loss to Palmerston Rovers FC, before a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Mindil Aces. They then went away to Casuarina and claimed a 2-0 win, but this has done little to dispel the poor run of form.
Port Darwin FC have had a much stronger start to the season, currently occupying second place in the NTDPL 2026 with 27 points from 11 matches. They've won four matches on the spin and have lost just one of their last five games, including a 4-3 thriller with Hearts when they last met two months ago. Their recent form has been even more impressive, as they thumped Palmerston Rovers FC 10-0 and then secured a 5-3 victory over Garuda FC.
A clash of styles
Port Darwin are an attack-minded side, who play a high-tempo, attack-first football where they're relentless in the final third and press aggressively to win the ball back. They overload wide areas and are always looking to get forward as quickly as possible. Hearts, on the other hand, are a much more shape-based team who look to be solid at the back and hit their opponents with quick counter-attacks.
We like Port for this one, as they are in red-hot form and are lethal away from home, currently boasting a 100% away record in the league. They've scored 20 goals across their four away trips this season and we're backing them to continue their fine form against a side who are struggling at home.
The odds are heavily stacked against us for the main result, as Port come in at 2.23, Hearts at 2.47 and the draw at 3.85. As such, we're taking the goals market, as Over 2.5 goals at 1.28 looks like a good bet, considering both sides have been involved in high-scoring matches of late.
