Moreton City Excelsior FC vs Peninsula Power Predictions

  • Moreton City Excelsior are in mixed, but dangerous, form - they've scored 4, 1, 1, 2 and 5 goals in their last five competitive fixtures and have lost just one of those games.
  • Peninsula Power are red-hot, having won three of their last five league games, along with a 0-0 draw and a narrow Australia Cup exit to APIA Leichhardt.
  • Moreton City have the psychological edge in this clash, having won four of the last seven head-to-head meetings with Peninsula Power, who have won two and drawn one - the most recent meeting, a 4-1 win for Moreton on 18 April 2026, was a statement win.
Top two clash is a clash of styles
Moreton City's best games have been their most entertaining, like the 4-3 win over Magic United or the 5-2 mauling of Rochedale. While those games were a few months ago, City's ability to turn a game into a shootout hasn't gone away. Coached by Cameron Millar, the side typically plays a structured 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 from back to front, playing out of the back with plenty of possession and lots of proactive pressing. They will want to control the match-up and launch quick transitions, but Moreton City will also want to get forward and punish when Peninsula Power make mistakes. And Moreton City will make Peninsula Power work for this. Star man Marquez Walters, a double-digit scorer this term, can be the difference in any game if he keeps his finishing boots on. While the rest of the team has been hit-and-miss, Joseph Scott and Rhys Gray have also got some goals, giving Millar plenty of options when his front three are on song.
Peninsula Power can press and play
Peninsula Power coach Aaron Philip has a different type of side to Moreton City, with plenty of intensity and high-tempo football, even if the structure isn't always as tight. Niyah Joseph is one of their most influential attacking players, but Obren Kljajic is a top-quality player with an eye for goal, while Joshua Woolley has a good eye for the final pass. Power have been a solid, but unspectacular side to begin their title quest, with about 42 points from 18 matches leaving them atop the NPL Queensland table with Moreton City within the top three on approximately 35 points from 18 games - meaning this is a genuine six-pointer.
Moreton City can win, but Power will pounce
Power have won three of their last five competitive matches, and that run has been boosted by the availability of players like Joe Duckworth and Raymond Diho to bolster a squad that had depth problems earlier in the season. This is a tight game and neither Moreton City (2.15) or Peninsula Power (2.65) look much better value than the draw (3.85). The odds favour the home side, and we're happy to take that - with the knowledge that this could go either way. Over 2.5 goals at 1.33 and both teams to score at 1.28 make plenty of sense, given how these two teams are built to scrap it out.
