- Western Knights have failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions (D1, L4).
- Sorrento have won two and lost three of their last five in all competitions.
A solid away side can score in Perth
Western Knights are in poor form heading into the visit of a Sorrento side that have also struggled lately, but the two teams will be scrapping it out in the mid-table at the 16-game mark of the NPL Western Australia 2026 campaign.
Sorrento currently occupy seventh spot on 20 points while Western Knights are a point behind them in eighth, and the hosts will need to win to go past their opponents this weekend.
Sorrento have been better away from home than at their own patch lately, picking up 2 wins and 1 defeat in their last three NPL away fixtures. While Western Knights have been less prolific at home recently, going 0-1-1 in their last two.
Wings vs aerials fixture
The head-to-head edge favours Sorrento, who have won the last two meetings between the two clubs in the NPL Western Australia 2026, including a 1-0 home victory over Western Knights two months ago.
We're going to side with the hosts to avoid defeat this weekend as Sorrento have been competitive on their travels, but the fact that the visitors have enjoyed the better of this fixture of late, makes us lean towards a draw.
Knights to nick it at home
Western Knights are the bookmakers' favourites at 1.46, with Sorrento a massive 5.28 and the draw 4.4 - which is surprising given the way these two clubs have been playing.
The Knights' recent 4-4 home draw with Bayswater City and 0-3 defeat away to Fremantle City FC last time out sums up how the season has been going for them in that they are trying to play football and should have won the home game, but are allowing far too many goals.
Sorrento are a more direct side that plays on the second ball and through the air, and they will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on a 4-3-3 that will fly down the wings and deliver in the box.
Sorrento are a better side away from home and the Knights are wobbling, so we feel they can nick it on the road. The match could get a bit cagey and it could come down to who wins the set piece battles.
But Western Knights should create enough and score a couple to see off the visitors, although Sorrento's aerial power and dead-ball threat could punish them if they get caught out on the break or are too generous in the air. So, over 2.5 goals at 1.41 looks to fit the flow of this clash, but we're also taking BTTS at 1.53.
