- Both Dunfermline (W1, D1, L3) and Cove Rangers (W2, D1, L2) have been in mixed form in their last 5 matches.
- The Pars are unbeaten in 1 game at home in League Cup Group C 2026, winning 1 and scoring 4 goals (4.00 per game).
- Cove have scored three and conceded six in their 2 League Cup Group C 2026 games to date.
Pars are the clear favourites to go off
Dunfermline bounce back from their disappointing 3-0 away defeat to East Kilbride on Saturday by demolishing Dumbarton 4-1 at home in their second League Cup Group C 2026 outing, while Cove Rangers will arrive in Fife on the back of a 4-0 battering by Saints after a 3-2 win over East Kilbride at the weekend.
At 2/5, Dunfermline are rightly the firm favourites to take the spoils on Tuesday, although 11/2 on Cove to spring a surprise has to be an underdog play of interest. The draw at 18/5 looks a bit short given that Cove's away form is generally poor and they are facing a team that knows how to play on the front foot.
Dunfermline vs Cove Rangers - a contrast in styles
Dunfermline boss Neil Lennon's back-three setup has been keeping the Pars compact and organised and allows them to switch seamlessly from patient build-up play to direct transitions with their wing-backs and midfield overloads. Paul Hartley's side have been playing in a more compact shape since he took over in January 2023, with his preferred back-four shape allowing Cove to create more from the verticality of the two strikers being fed quickly from the second line.
A Dunfermline win is the likeliest outcome of this game, however, Cove's last win in this fixture (2-1 to the visitors in the League Cup 2024/25) and their more direct approach to the game suggests that this won't be a walkover. The hosts can take the game to Cove and this is perhaps reflected in the fact that they sit third on three points from two games, while the visitors are fourth on the same tally after two.
Cove can counter attack dangerously
Both teams to score at 7/10 makes plenty of appeal, given how Dunfermline can open things up at home and the fact that Cove will be looking to counter attack whenever they can. Dunfermline to win and Over 2.5 goals at 11/20 looks a nice fit to the mood of the cup at the moment.
