- FC Edinburgh have two wins, one draw and two defeats in their last five matches, including a 5-0 win over Dumbarton and a 2-0 win over Brora Rangers.
- Falkirk have three wins and seven defeats in their last ten matches across all competitions, a better record on paper than the hosts.
- Falkirk have won three of the last five head-to-head meetings with FC Edinburgh, who have one win and one draw.
FC Edinburgh have a foothold
FC Edinburgh have shown enough to suggest they are a match for Falkirk FC in Saturday's Group G 2026 League Cup battle, even if the visitors are the clear favourites at 17/100. Michael
McIndoe's men have had a mixed but improving five-match run that has given them a foothold for the season ahead and the confidence to take this clash on at home.
The Citizens have lost seven of their last ten in all competitions, a shaky run that still includes two wins and a draw. They thumped Dumbarton 5-0 on the opening day of League Two 2025/2026 last month and then overcame Brora Rangers 2-0 in their play-off for promotion last season. In short, they can make the sort of impact to make this a game if Falkirk don't
close it out early.
Divine Iserhienrhien, who has scored five of
his side's last eight
goals in the last five, will be their biggest threat on Saturday and it's down to him to shoulder the scoring load. Edinburgh can
land a punch in these cup matches, but
they can also leak
enough chances
to
allow
the
visitors
to
take
control.
Falkirk should find some space
John McGlynn has his men playing a nice brand of football on paper - a controlled 4-2-3-1 system that uses the midfield balance to protect the defence, and the No.10 plays with a bit of life. It's the sort of team that can transition from possession to pressure in an instant, but that's also dependent on playing a decent level of opposition.
Falkirk's recent two defeats to Hearts and Rangers in the Premiership Championship Round showed that they can be stretched and pressured when the pressure is on. They should still edge this clash on class and control, but the value is not in the result so much as in the goal lines.
Goals are the best bet
Falkirk's price is too short to back them outright, but the goal markets suggest this should be an open cup tie. Over 2.5 goals at 6/25 and both teams to score at 16/25 both offer a chance to profit while the draw at 113/20 is the play if you're feeling lucky.
A 4-1 win over Edinburgh in the League One 2023/2024 season may put some off supporting the Bairns, but Falkirk can secure a positive result this weekend.
