That is one of the most ridiculous finishes to a group stage game you will ever see. Algeria looked like they had it, then Austria nicked it back in the final seconds and suddenly the whole thing has gone completely mental.

You cannot script stuff like that. The late equaliser has turned a normal thread into pure chaos, and the reaction is exactly what you'd expect when a game goes from tense to unhinged in one kick.

Fair play to anyone who stayed with it all the way through because that ending was proper box office. Absolute scenes, and probably not the last time people bring this one up when talking about mad tournament games.
 
I was sat in the pub with a mate who had already gone to the bar thinking it was done and then the whole room just exploded and some bloke near the fruit machine nearly dropped his pint all over the floor because nobody expected that kind of finish at all and now every time a game goes past ninety I am going to remember that mad scramble and laugh because football really does just randomly decide to mug everyone off sometimes
 
I actually shouted at the telly and scared the dog off the sofa because I thought the thing was over and then it just kept going and going and going like it was refusing to end absolutely unreal stuff
 
The key thing is that the game never really lost its tension, so the late goal just pushed it over the edge. Once one side has to chase it in stoppage time, the whole shape of the match changes and you get these chaotic moments. It felt like both teams were one mistake away from disaster.
 
I am so sick of people pretending Saša Kalajdžić has not got that moment in him because every time there is a big late chance he pops up and suddenly everyone acts surprised like he is some random bloke off the street instead of a proper striker who can actually deliver when it matters and tonight he dragged Austria back into it with the whole thing on the line and if you are only noticing him now then you have not been paying attention at all because this is exactly the sort of finish he lives for and it is doing my head in seeing people act like it came from nowhere
 
honestly the funniest part is how everyone thought it was going to be a boring one and then it turned into full chaos in the last minute like the scriptwriters had a bet on it and forgot to tell anyone

People are acting like this is some once in a lifetime miracle but it is exactly what happens when a game is still alive at the death and both sides keep leaving space because they are knackered and panicking and the officials have to add the time properly and everyone starts losing their minds because they dont understand how stoppage time works and then suddenly one more chance lands and the whole stadium and every viewer online goes absolutely feral and honestly that is why tournaments are so good because you get these stupid insane endings where nobody knows whether to laugh or cry and then the comments turn into a complete mess and everyone starts shouting about script and destiny and whatever else
