Bellingham slap clip has everyone talking

Saw the alternative angle of Bellingham swiping Barco in the back of the head and it just looks even weirder from that view. At first glance you could maybe talk yourself into it being part of some heated moment, but the second angle makes it look like a random little slap for no obvious reason.

That is what is getting people going, really. Barco does not seem to do much, so now everyone is trying to work out whether there was some exchange off camera or whether Jude just lost his head for a second.

Either way, it is the sort of clip that gets replayed forever because it looks so daft in isolation. The reactions are all over the place too, from people calling it a joke to others saying it was a proper cunt move.

It is one of those moments where the clip does him no favours at all, because from the alternative angle it looks way more deliberate than accidental. You can understand people asking what Barco even did, because there does not seem to be much there to justify it, imo

Honestly this is the sort of thing that makes football fans lose their minds because one angle it looks like nothing and then the other angle it looks like he has just walked up and twatted him for absolutely no reason and everyone starts making excuses and saying oh maybe he said something and maybe this and maybe that but if there was anything that serious then surely it would have been obvious in the moment and not just this weird little clip where he basically gives him a slap on the back of the head and carries on like nothing happened and now half the internet is doing detective work over a tiny moment in a game and the other half are acting like he has committed a war crime

A measured reading of it is that the second angle makes the contact look uglier than the first, which is why people are reacting so strongly. But once football gets hold of a clip like this it turns into a whole morality play, with every camp projecting their own agenda onto it, and before you know it you are arguing about perceived arrogance, body language, tournament credit, and whether one player is allowed to be human at all and somehow it becomes about a dozen other things besides a single slap

People are way too eager to turn this into some character assassination job when it is just a stupid moment in a football match and nothing more than that, Barco is standing there and Bellingham gives him a little swipe and suddenly everyone is talking about him like he has been exposed as some awful person for life, footballers do daft things all the time and because Jude is such a big name everyone wants to make it into a massive story, if the roles were reversed people would be saying it was handbags and moving on in five minutes but because it is him the knives are out straight away and it is just ridiculous how quickly everyone piles on one lad for one brainless second
