Bruno Fernandes sets new PL assist record

You can make a measured case that the record is impressive because it combines output, responsibility and consistency, and that is fair enough. But once you start looking at the wider picture it becomes one of those seasons that says as much about the club as the player, because he has been asked to do absolutely everything and people still somehow expect him to look calm and tidy every week. Then the conversation turns into another debate about whether he is a captain, whether he moans too much, whether he suits the system, whether the manager is wasting him, and next thing you know everyone is arguing in circles instead of just admitting he has had a monster year and moving on
 
honestly this is one of those numbers that just makes you stop and laugh because 21 assists is ridiculous and the fact he has done it while carrying so much of the creative load is even madder and you know fine well half the people who used to call him penandes are now pretending they always rated him and that is football for you it is all vibes until the stats hit and then suddenly everyone is a genius again and i am not even a united fan but you have to respect that sort of output because it is not normal and it is not easy and it is not something you can just wave away with some lazy joke about penalties or whining or whatever else people used to say about him when he was getting blamed for everything at that club
 
It is a massive individual achievement, and it deserves credit on its own terms. At the same time, it also underlines how heavily United have leaned on him for creativity this season.
 
ngl i didnt think he had this kind of season in him again after all the noise around him but 21 assists is just ridiculous and now every time i see someone call him washed i just laugh because the numbers are staring them in the face and he is still out there producing like mad
 
Bruno has obviously had a huge season and the record is deserved, but it also feels like a reminder of how much United have depended on one creative outlet imo
 
People need to stop pretending Bruno has not been carrying this team on his back because the numbers are right there and the performances are right there and every week he is the one trying to make something happen while others are jogging about like they are waiting for someone else to fix it, he gets called emotional and messy and whatever else but half the squad would disappear without him and that is the truth, 21 assists is not some random stat it is the result of him constantly taking responsibility, taking set pieces, taking risks and basically doing the job of about three players at once, and honestly the amount of nonsense he gets from his own fans is wild because if he was in a better side people would be calling him a genius every week instead of acting like he is a problem, absolutely ridiculous
