You can make a measured case that the record is impressive because it combines output, responsibility and consistency, and that is fair enough. But once you start looking at the wider picture it becomes one of those seasons that says as much about the club as the player, because he has been asked to do absolutely everything and people still somehow expect him to look calm and tidy every week. Then the conversation turns into another debate about whether he is a captain, whether he moans too much, whether he suits the system, whether the manager is wasting him, and next thing you know everyone is arguing in circles instead of just admitting he has had a monster year and moving on
