Dani Carvajal saying goodbye at the Bernabeu really does feel like the final curtain on that whole Real Madrid era. The three-peat team being officially done is a proper end of an age moment, and 27 trophies is just ridiculous when you think about it.

Whatever people thought of him as a player or a person, he was clearly one of those lads who did the dirty work and made the whole thing tick. Youth product, long career, loads of big nights, and now even rival fans are giving him a bit of respect. That farewell must have hit hard for Madrid fans

It’s one of those moments where the trophies matter, but the feeling around it matters too. End of an era, end of a generation, and probably one of the last reminders of that super team leaving the stage
 
Saw a bloke in the pub years back when Madrid were still rattling off those big nights and he kept saying Carvajal was the sort of player you only appreciate properly when hes gone because he never made a song and dance about himself just turned up and did the nasty stuff and somehow still ends up with a trophy cabinet that looks fake, mad how one farewell can make the whole room go quiet and suddenly everyone starts acting like they were there from the start
 
I think some people are overstating the nostalgia. He was brilliant, but Madrid always move on.
 
I dont buy the idea that he was just some background guy either because if you watch how Madrid used him over the years he was so important in the way they kept their structure and still got width, the trophies dont happen without players like that and people acting like he was lucky are chatting bollocks
 
Imagine being that last legend from the 2017 super team and then walking out to all that respect, even the refs getting involved like its a royal parade, football loves a dramatic farewell when it wants to and this one was pure theatre
 
Carvajal was never just a steady fullback, he gave Madrid a real edge in the big moments and that matters more than people admit. If you are winning at that level for that long, the selfless players deserve just as much credit as the headlines men imo
 
Watching that send off hit me more than I expected because it really does feel like the old Madrid has disappeared now and I remember when that whole side looked unbeatable every week, now its all memories and clips and one by one theyre all leaving
