So the rumour doing the rounds is that Manchester City have offered €120M for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez after deciding to make the effort at the request of Enzo Maresca. Apparently the manager is pushing to get it done and has asked City to do everything possible, while Chelsea's response is still unknown

If this is even half true then it's one of those proper football stories that makes no sense on first read and then somehow still feels completely believable. City being linked with another huge move is hardly shocking, but the idea of Chelsea selling Enzo after all the noise around him would be mad

Feels like one of those threads where everyone will argue about price, fit, ambition and whether this is just agent nonsense or a real push. What do people make of it, genuine interest or just transfer season taking the piss again

If City are really prepared to drop that kind of money then you can see why people are saying the league is broken because they just keep finding another way to flex, but at the same time Chelsea taking the cash would be very Chelsea and very modern football all at once

Had a lad in the pub earlier saying City were after him and everyone at the table just laughed because by the end of the night someone had linked them with three other players as well and it was all coming from one bloke who swore his cousin knew a guy, football transfer chat is honestly the same everywhere now just noise and people pretending they know the secret info while the pint glasses get emptied and nothing actually happens

City paying that much for Enzo would be some statement even by their standards, but I still cant tell if this is real ambition or just another agent-driven story to keep his name in the news imo

It is a massive number, but that does not automatically make it a sensible move for either side. City would be betting on fit and timing, while Chelsea would have to decide whether the fee outweighs what Enzo offers on the pitch.

if this is true then city are basically saying they want a midfielder who can dictate play and recycle possession under pressure and enzo does that well enough but the real question is whether chelsea can live without him because that squad already feels like it changes every five minutes

Chelsea getting linked with a sale after spending all that money is hilarious really, spend big, panic later, then let city stroll in with a cheque and everyone pretends it was the plan all along
