Cole Palmer and the quiz show moment

To be fair to the guy, if you are putting someone in a football knowledge game and half the questions are about their own club or their own career then of course it is going to look a bit easier on the surface, but that does not mean he is not being put on the spot and having to answer cleanly in front of a camera, which plenty of players would mess up because they get in their own heads. People always love turning this sort of thing into a joke about bias or a setup, but if the player is relaxed and the vibe is good then what is the actual issue, he is allowed to enjoy himself, he is allowed to know things about the club he plays for, and he is allowed to look happy without everyone acting like it is suspicious. Honestly I think some fans just cannot stand seeing a footballer having a normal moment without trying to drag it down, it is pathetic and miserable and I am sick of the constant need to make everything into a gotcha
 
There is definitely an element of favouritism in the setup, but that does not mean the clip is worthless. Palmer still had to stay sharp and keep the answers coming, and he looked completely at ease doing it. That is what makes it work.
 
Palmer answering Chelsea questions like he is sat in a pub quiz with his mates while the rest of us are just watching through the screen pretending we would not panic after the first one, absolute fraud test for anyone else and he is just there grinning like a man who has already had a free pint and the best seat in the house
 
I had something similar happen in the pub the other week where there was a quiz on before the match and one lad just steamrolled the football round because every question happened to suit him and everyone started giving it the same talk about bias and easy mode and all that, but honestly if you are in the room and the pressure is on then it still feels different, people forget how daft your head can go when there is a mic in front of you and everyone is watching. Palmer here just looks like he has no stress at all, like he has wandered in from a training ground joke and accidentally become the funniest man in the room, and that is probably why people like him so much because he does not look like he is performing for the camera at all, he just looks like he is enjoying himself and that is rare enough in football media these days
 
He probably benefits from the questions being tailored to his world, but that is also kind of the point of the segment. He still comes across as relaxed and likeable, which matters more than people pretending it is a serious test imo
 
The real scandal here is how these quiz things always manage to make the officials of the format look more clueless than the players because if you are going to set up a football knowledge game then at least make it feel balanced instead of loading it up with obvious club-based stuff and acting like it is some massive achievement when one lad gets through it, it is just lazy production and everyone knows it, the questions are designed to get a reaction not test actual knowledge and then people pile in online like it means something, absolute nonsense from start to finish and the whole thing is another example of the media taking the piss
