It is childish, but football crowds have always been childish in moments like this. Ronaldo is famous enough that people will use his name for a reaction, and that is not going away any time soon. The best version of this for him is probably exactly what happened, just keep moving and refuse to take the bait.
 
This works because it is simple and instantly recognisable. You do not need a clever chant when the target is already one of the most reactive figures in the sport, and that is why it spread so quickly.
 
The more measured point here is that crowd banter only becomes a story when the player and the audience both understand the reference, and that is why this clip travels so well. But then you remember football discourse online is completely addicted to turning every Ronaldo moment into a personality test, and suddenly you have people diagnosing his ego, his mentality, his posture, his breathing, and probably his cereal choice if they could, which is why these threads are so exhausting because nobody can just say it was a funny bit of needle and move on, everyone has to become a philosopher for five minutes and then start arguing about who is more obsessed with whom

It is funny because on one hand you can say it is just a chant and not worth overanalysing, but on the other hand you can see exactly why people did it and why it got a reaction online. Ronaldo has spent so long being one of the most polarising figures in football that even something this small turns into a huge argument, and that is before the usual crowd pile on starts. Some people will call it childish, some will call it brilliant, some will say he is above it, and some will say he is rattled, and then the whole thing becomes another endless Ronaldo debate instead of just a weird little football moment. Still, you have to admit the timing and the choice of chant were proper shithouse and the fact it has everyone talking means it did its job, even if the internet is now completely unbearable about it
