Enzo's post has England rattled

its wild how people are acting like this is some unforgivable crime when its literally just football banter and the same fans would be laughing their heads off if it was the other way round and thats why all this faux outrage is so boring
 
people saying its harmless are missing the point a bit because the whole reason it works is that it is meant to sting and if you are a chelsea fan or an england fan you can still admit that without pretending its a huge scandal
 
the amount of crying over a post is hilarious really, lot of people in here acting like theyve never seen a wind up before and now suddenly its a moral crisis
 
England were always going to get the last laugh comments after this but the real story is how quickly it became about the reaction instead of the actual post, because the post itself is a pretty straightforward bit of needle and nothing else, but when you mix in Chelsea and the rivalry and the online pile on you get a full tactical press from the internet and everyone loses shape
 
The sensible take is that it is a calculated bit of trolling and nothing more, and honestly that should be the end of it because football has always had people trying to get under each others skin and this is just the modern version of that. But then you read the replies and its all people acting like they are above it while writing paragraphs about how offended they are and then suddenly Im thinking about the old days of proper terrace nonsense and how much simpler it was before every tiny thing became content and now I am somehow annoyed at an Instagram post about a defeat and a song choice and a Chelsea connection and I hate that I even care this much
 
People are giving England fans far too much stick for being annoyed because if this had gone the other way and someone from the other side had posted the same sort of thing after a defeat everyone would be calling it disrespectful and nasty and all the rest of it, so lets not pretend this is some harmless joke that only soft people could possibly mind, it is clearly a dig and it clearly lands harder because of the context and because of who is involved, but that does not mean the reaction is ridiculous or that everyone upset is some crybaby, football is emotional and people take these things personally and thats fine, thats what makes it fun and thats why these posts get so much traction in the first place because they are not just random words they are meant to hurt and they do hurt and thats the point and honestly fair enough to the lad on the winning side for knowing how to press the button but I am still laughing at everyone pretending this is somehow noble banter when really its just a bit nasty and everyone knows it
 
The officials would probably get blamed for this somehow if England fans could find a way, because that is where we are now with football discourse, every little thing becomes a conspiracy or a grievance and this post is just another excuse for people to shout at each other for hours, but if we are being honest the real issue is that the whole thing was always going to become a circus once the internet got hold of it and now everybody is pretending not to be bothered while posting essays about how bothered they are and it is just ridiculous, the referees get it in the neck, the players get it in the neck, the social media teams get it in the neck and somehow nobody ever just says fair play and moves on, instead we end up with the same old moaning from the same old people who think every bit of banter is either genius or a crime depending on who it happens to
 
On a pure football level this is just a player leaning into the rivalry and using a post to wind people up after a defeat, which is fairly standard stuff and probably exactly why it has drawn so much attention. The real story is not the post itself but how quickly everyone has turned it into a culture war about banter, respect, Chelsea, England, and who can handle a joke. That said, the more I look at the whole thing the more I think it is a bit much because it is one thing to laugh at a rival and another to spend all day stoking the fire and then acting surprised when people kick off, so yeah clever maybe, funny maybe, but also a bit grim and now im just sitting here watching the replies get more and more unhinged and thinking football socials are completely cooked
