EU Parliament calls for Infantino investigation

A proper investigation would at least show that somebody somewhere is still willing to challenge the FIFA machine, and that matters because institutions like this survive on the idea that they are too big to touch. But I do wonder whether this just becomes another round of statements and procedural noise, because the real issue is not only Infantino himself but the culture that lets one man become the public face of a system everyone already assumes is bent, and once you start looking at it that way you realise how much of football governance is basically theatre for people in suits, which is ridiculous when you think about how much the sport means to ordinary fans and how little say they ever get in any of it

The key question is whether this becomes a genuine inquiry or just another headline. FIFA’s strength has always been its ability to survive criticism by outlasting it, so any investigation needs to look beyond Infantino and into the incentives that keep the whole thing running the same way.

European Parliament really said hold my beer and went after FIFA now the lobby boys are probably sweating through their suits while pretending this is all very normal and transparent

There is a real difference between public embarrassment and actual accountability, and this story sits right on that line. If it stays in the realm of statements and outrage, FIFA will ride it out again. If it turns into a serious investigation, then at least the pressure becomes harder to ignore.
