Well, that is exactly the sort of thing that gets people talking about Ferran Torres again. PSG looked like they were heading for a frustrating night, then he pops up and suddenly the whole mood changes. It is one of those moments that makes you laugh because it feels completely on brand for him now.

The funny part is how many people are saying he only turns into this version of himself after the move to PSG. Maybe that is just the price of being a footballing chaos merchant, or maybe he really is one of those players who lives for the most random moments. Either way, the reaction has been pure entertainment.

And fair play to the player who set it up too, because the pass gets a lot of love in the comments. But the bigger story is still Ferran turning another game into a meme in real time. Football, mate, absolutely mental sometimes.
 
On one hand you can say it is just one of those late moments that swing a game and the reactions get carried away, but on the other hand this is exactly why people keep bringing Ferran up every time he does anything in a PSG shirt, he seems to have that weird ability to turn into a different lad in certain moments and it makes the whole thing feel cursed for the rest of us, and then you get the usual joke cycle about Barca, Ballon d or clauses and all that nonsense and suddenly the actual football gets buried under the memes, which is probably the most football internet thing ever

The tactical bit is obvious really, he looks much better when he can attack the box late rather than trying to be the main reference point all game, and that seems to suit him far more, plus the supply from midfield has been the key part of it
 
ngl this is the exact sort of thing that makes you laugh as a fan because one minute youre moaning and the next youre celebrating like mad, football is just ridiculous sometimes and ferran is right in the middle of it

The bench role clearly suits him better than carrying the attack from the start. He seems more dangerous when he can arrive into the action rather than dictate it.

People keep trying to make this into some grand verdict on the losing side and that is just lazy honestly because Rennes did not exactly roll over here, they were in the game and had every right to think they could see it out, then one moment changes everything and suddenly everyone forgets the work that went into getting there in the first place, that happens all the time in football and it does not mean the side that conceded is some joke, it just means the game was still alive, and PSG getting a late one does not magically make every criticism disappear either, but the amount of sneering in these comments is mad when the margin is so fine and the whole thing could have gone the other way with one more decent defensive action
 
The officials always end up in the middle of these threads somehow and it drives me mad because nobody wants to talk about the actual football, they just want to scream about the ref the second a late goal goes in, and fair enough sometimes decisions are annoying as hell but this match is being turned into another referee discourse festival when the story is Ferran Torres and that pass and the way PSG kept forcing the issue, not every equaliser needs a conspiracy attached to it, sometimes the defending just gets stretched and the finish goes in and that is football, but people online will still act like the ref personally packed the bags and flew to Rennes to ruin their evening
 
nah i dont buy the idea that he only does it from the bench, he has always had these spells where the finishing comes in bursts and people just remember the dry patches more than the good bits
