Isak pops up for Sweden

There is a sensible middle ground here. Isak is obviously very good, and the goal shows that, but it also came in a match where Sweden were already behind and the shape of the game had changed. That is why people should be careful with the grand conclusions, because a striker can look either anonymous or brilliant depending on the service and the space, and then everyone starts turning it into a personality test for the player. Also Graham Potter as Sweden manager was not on my bingo card at all and now I am more interested in that than the actual game, which says a lot about how strange this thread is

Some of you are acting like this is some huge redemption arc but it is just a goal and people are already pretending he has been carrying teams for years when the reality is he has been quiet in a lot of these games and then pops up once and everyone starts writing poetry about him, let the lad have a decent moment without turning it into a full blown legend story because the overhyping is exhausting

people are acting like he has been invisible for months and now suddenly hes back when really the whole thing is just that he had a bit of space and took it well, strikers look different when they arent being swallowed by two defenders every time they touch the ball and thats all this is really

I was in the pub and everyone around me reacted like Sweden had won the thing when that goal went in, proper scenes for about ten seconds, couple of lads shouting he is alive and someone else saying world class like it was the final of something, then straight back to everyone staring at the screen because Norway were still 3-1 up and the reality came back quick, football does that to you though one moment you are laughing your head off and the next you are just sat there with your pint thinking this is why we keep watching even when the game is already basically done

I am sorry but the officials absolutely killed the flow of this one at times and it makes the whole thing harder to watch because every little stop and decision just adds to the frustration when one side is already trying to chase a game, you can talk about Isak all you want and fair enough because the goal was good, but the ref and the general officiating vibe were doing the absolute most and it all felt a bit stop start and irritating if you were trying to enjoy the football properly

The goal is a reminder of the value of direct attacking play. When Isak gets the chance to run at defenders rather than operate in a crowded area, his quality is much easier to see. That said, Sweden were still well beaten overall, so one moment should not change the wider assessment of the match.

There is a reason people keep saying he is better with space. The finish and the movement both stand out, but it does not erase the fact that Sweden were still on the back foot for most of the game. It is a good moment for him, not a full reset for the team.

I do not think this proves much beyond him being a quality player. The context of the match still matters, and Norway were the better side.

I was half watching and then suddenly everyone is screaming about Isak and I am sat there trying to work out what I missed because it felt like the sort of goal that gets replayed a hundred times and then you realise Sweden are still 3-1 down and the whole mood changes again it is funny how football can go from dead quiet to absolute chaos in about five seconds and then leave you arguing about whether the player is back or not

the way people are clowning on him like he just woke up from a coma is hilarious because one decent touch and suddenly every comment is some graveyard joke and dead man walking nonsense and im just here thinking football fans are absolutely incapable of being normal for even a second
