Joao Pedro scores inside a minute

Chelsea have gone ahead almost instantly and the reaction is exactly what you’d expect: absolute chaos, instant overreactions, and a load of people asking how on earth Joao Pedro wasn’t getting more love elsewhere. It’s one of those starts that makes everyone pile in before the game has even settled.

Palmer’s involvement has already got people talking too, because of course it has. Fulham barely had time to breathe and the thread is already full of Brazil, Ancelotti, Alonso, Arbeloa and all the usual nonsense that comes with a ridiculous early goal.

Still, fair play to Chelsea for making the perfect start. Fulham fans are probably staring at the screen wondering what just happened, while everyone else is either laughing, raging, or declaring the title race over after one minute

Chelsea have barely let Fulham touch it and suddenly its one nil and everyone in the thread is losing their head already i love it when a game starts like this because the entire mood changes in seconds and nobody knows what to say next

Honestly this is exactly why people go mad for early goals because the whole match thread just turns into pure chaos instantly and every single comment is some version of Brazil, Ancelotti, Palmer, or some joke about not even having time to sit down and I am absolutely here for it because one minute in and the game already feels like it has proper momentum, Fulham look stunned, Chelsea look like they have come out with a point to prove, and everyone else is acting like the season has been decided already which is ridiculous but also very funny

Fulham have been caught way too open there and Chelsea have just ripped straight through the first phase before anyone could settle, its the kind of goal that makes a manager furious because the shape is gone before the game has even started properly and now they have to chase the tempo

Chelsea’s press has clearly done the damage there. Fulham were not set at all, and once the first pass broke the line it was chaos. That is exactly the kind of opening you want if you are trying to control a match early.

I do think people will overdo the whole one minute hype thing, but at the same time this is a ridiculous start and you can already feel the confidence shift in Chelsea. Joao Pedro getting that moment so early is exactly the sort of thing that changes how a game is played, because now Fulham have to take more risks and Chelsea can pick their moments, and honestly if you are a neutral this is the kind of opener that makes you sit up straight and properly pay attention, but if you are Fulham you are probably thinking what the hell just happened and why are we already behind before the kettle has even boiled

It is only one goal, but the timing matters a lot. Fulham will have to respond quickly now, and Chelsea can settle into the game with a lead and a lot less pressure.

I am so tired of people acting like every time Joao Pedro does something it is just a fluke or some lucky little moment because the guy is clearly a proper player and he keeps showing it in the biggest way possible and then you get the same crowd turning around and asking why he wasnt picked for Brazil as if the answer has not been staring them in the face this whole time and it is honestly maddening because he has that sharpness, that movement, that confidence, and he just looks like he belongs at this level while half the discussion around him is still stuck in nonsense about other names and old reputations

Chelsea have started with real intent and that is the main thing here. If you score that quickly, the whole match plan changes for both sides, imo

The interesting part is not just the goal itself but how quickly the whole conversation around it has shifted, because now people are already talking about Brazil, managers, and who should have picked who, and that is before Fulham have even had a proper spell on the ball. Chelsea look lively, sure, but early goals can create a strange game where the leading side gets a bit too comfortable and the other side has to force things. Still, when you start like this you can understand the excitement because it feels like the match has been dragged out of the ordinary and straight into madness, and that is exactly why people love these threads and why they turn into complete nonsense so quickly
