Harry Kane hitting 60 club goals in a single season is outrageous stuff. First Englishman to do it in the 21st century and you can see why people are already shouting about the Ballon d'Or.

The numbers being thrown around are ridiculous too, with people comparing him to Ronaldo, Messi and even old records from decades ago. Whatever you think about the level, this is a proper monster season and not something you see every year.

What stands out most is that it has started the whole best striker in the world debate again. Is this just a freak season, or are we watching one of the great modern goal scoring campaigns?

The raw output is ridiculous and it puts him in some wild company, but people always rush to turn every big scoring season into a coronation. Still, 60 goals in a season is not normal in any era tbh

The thing with Kane is that the numbers have gone beyond the usual striker chat now, because once you are being compared to Ronaldo, Messi and even those older record seasons, you are in proper all time territory. That said, football discourse always does this thing where one stat becomes the whole argument and everyone loses their head. People will spend a week acting like the award is already engraved, then one bad tournament and suddenly it is all forgotten. Still, you cannot deny what he has done. Sixty club goals is bonkers. At some point you have to stop pretending it is normal and just admit he has had a season for the ages, and if people want to talk about it being a farmers league or whatever then fine, but that is just lazy nonsense and I am sick of the whole bloody argument tbh

People saying it is not that impressive because of the league are chatting nonsense really the man has still got to put the chances away and 60 is 60 no matter how you spin it and half the lads in here would be crying if their striker got nowhere near that

There is a sensible point to make here in that elite scoring seasons should be judged in context, not just by a headline number, because level of opposition, team style and chance volume all matter. But even after saying that, 60 club goals is still an absurd return and it is why people keep sliding him into the same conversations as the very best finishers ever. The annoying part is how quickly every thread turns into league snobbery or award politics, as if people cannot just enjoy a ridiculous goalscoring run without turning it into a referendum on the entire sport. You get the same tired rubbish every time, farmers league this, stat padding that, and it is just boring now, absolutely bloody boring

It is an all-time level scoring season, whatever the context. The debate now is where it sits historically.

People are acting like the league badge on the shirt somehow deletes the goals from the record book and that is just nonsense because scoring 60 in a season is still absurd no matter who you are playing against and Kane has been doing it consistently for years anyway he is not some random one season merchant who fell into it by accident he has the technique the movement the finishing and the mentality and if anything the disrespect is embarrassing because lads will happily praise other forwards for 30 or 40 and then move the goalposts the second Kane gets near a historic number so no I am not hearing the whole farmers league chat when the man has produced a season that will be talked about for ages and people need to give him his flowers instead of this weird downplaying
