Liverpool seem to have reached an agreement in principle with PSG for Bradley Barcola, and the fee being talked about is absolutely massive. Whether you think he is worth it or not, this is one of those deals that makes you sit up and laugh at how far the market has gone.

A lot of the discussion is already about whether Liverpool are spending in the right area, with people pointing out the right wing issue and others saying Barcola is far more than just a bench player. PSG fans seem split between missing him and calling it great business, which probably tells you everything.

People keep acting like PSG are somehow getting away with daylight robbery here but that ignores the actual player and the context, Barcola has been around the main squad, he has played in important games, he has given them pace, ball control, chance creation and a real outlet when things get tight, and in a market where average wide players cost absurd money anyway he is absolutely not some random bench warmer that you can just dismiss because he wasnt starting every single match, Liverpool are paying for age, upside, versatility, profile and the fact that there simply are not many players like him available, and if you think you are getting a better wide attacker for less in this market then you are living in fantasy land
