Liverpool seem to have reached an agreement in principle with PSG for Bradley Barcola, and the fee being talked about is absolutely massive. Whether you think he is worth it or not, this is one of those deals that makes you sit up and laugh at how far the market has gone.

A lot of the discussion is already about whether Liverpool are spending in the right area, with people pointing out the right wing issue and others saying Barcola is far more than just a bench player. PSG fans seem split between missing him and calling it great business, which probably tells you everything.

Either way, this feels like another proper marker of how elite clubs are operating now. Liverpool are going big again, PSG are cashing in again, and everyone else is looking at the numbers and wondering how the hell this keeps happening.

Out of nowhere this one proper blindsided me mate, one minute its quiet and then boom Liverpool are dropping stupid money again and everyone is acting like its normal

I still cant get over how normal these fees sound now, like 135m for one winger and people are just shrugging. Football finance is completely gone, imo

If theyve spent this much on a left winger then the squad balance question is fair because the right side still looks like the obvious hole and you cant just keep stacking talent in one lane and hope it sorts itself out

The fee is huge, but Liverpool are clearly targeting a very specific profile here. If they believe Barcola can create from wide areas and stretch teams, then the move makes more sense than just chasing a name. It still feels expensive, though.

PSG selling another so called bench player for a fortune and people still call it a masterclass like they havent been mugging clubs off for years now

If the add-ons are significant, the deal is less extreme than the headline suggests. Even so, Liverpool are committing to a major investment in a wide forward.

liverpool are just going full chequebook mode now arent they first one mega signing and now another and people still pretend this is the old prudent klopp era when its clearly a different level of spending

People keep acting like PSG are somehow getting away with daylight robbery here but that ignores the actual player and the context, Barcola has been around the main squad, he has played in important games, he has given them pace, ball control, chance creation and a real outlet when things get tight, and in a market where average wide players cost absurd money anyway he is absolutely not some random bench warmer that you can just dismiss because he wasnt starting every single match, Liverpool are paying for age, upside, versatility, profile and the fact that there simply are not many players like him available, and if you think you are getting a better wide attacker for less in this market then you are living in fantasy land
