Liverpool linked with Barcola and Mbaye double deal

Feels like Liverpool are trying to do the sensible bit first by getting the players onside and then hoping PSG buckle later, which is usually how these things work when the selling club has all the leverage and knows it, so the real question is whether the price is even remotely reasonable or if this just becomes another drawn out window story

I actually think people are being way too quick to treat PSG as the villain here because if they have good players under contract then of course they are going to want proper money, that is not some outrageous crime, and Liverpool fans would be doing exactly the same if roles were reversed and some club came in for two of their players and tried to act like they should just accept a bargain, the whole point of negotiation is that both sides push, both sides bluff, and both sides leak stuff to make themselves look stronger, so I dont really buy the instant outrage every time a big club asks for a big fee, it is boring but it is normal and the deal either gets done or it doesnt and thats just football now

The structure of the move makes sense if Liverpool want to avoid being blocked later by player preference. But the decisive factor will still be PSG’s valuation, not the personal terms. That is usually where these stories either move fast or die quietly.

Can we please stop acting like every transfer rumour is a genius move the second a player supposedly agrees personal terms because all that tells you is the agent has found a number they like and the player is open to a switch, it says absolutely nothing about whether the club buying actually has the budget or whether the selling club are going to play hardball and in this case it is PSG so of course they are going to drag it out and make it miserable, and if Liverpool end up paying through the nose then people will still pretend it was a masterstroke, meanwhile the whole thing will have been turned into a three week soap opera by the same accounts that live for this stuff

I saw this and instantly thought here we go again because every Liverpool rumour turns into a week of people acting like they have insider info and then half the time it ends up being nothing but noise and a lot of stress for no reason, still if they actually land both then fair play because that is a proper move and not just window dressing, but until PSG say yes it is just another thing to argue about on the internet and I am already tired

If Liverpool are targeting both players, the logic is probably about depth and flexibility rather than one headline signing. The issue is that PSG can force the deal into a long, expensive process, and that usually changes the mood around it very quickly.

It is easy to get carried away by the phrase personal terms agreed, but that part of a transfer is often the least controversial. The real test is whether PSG are actually willing to negotiate in a way that does not become a total slog, and that is where the optimism usually gets knocked back.
