Nader Mohammadi's monster throw-in

It is impressive, but I do think the mystique around long throws sometimes gets a bit carried away. If the movement in the box is poor, even the longest throw in the world just becomes another hopeful delivery.
 
I remember being in the pub years ago with a mate who used to bang on about long throws like they were the peak of football intelligence and we were all taking the piss until one day his Sunday league side actually scored from one and he nearly spilled his pint celebrating like they had won the cup and honestly this thread has brought that memory right back because you can not help but admire a lad who can just launch it that far and make everyone in the ground sit up a bit
 
i dont care what anyone says this is one of the most ridiculous things in football when a defender can just pick the ball up and basically fire it into the penalty area like a missile and everyone has to react in a split second it turns the whole game into chaos and half the time the keeper is rooted and the centre backs are panicking and i swear managers who hate this stuff are just jealous because they cant coach a human cannon like that
 
i mean fair play to him but people are acting like every long throw is some genius tactical cheat when most of the time its just a way to chuck the ball into a crowded box and hope someone gets a touch
 
What annoys me is the officials never seem consistent with these things because one week a throw like that is allowed and the next week some poor lad gets pulled up for the slightest movement and everyone is left scratching their heads and the whole game gets dragged into nonsense when all people want is to see the ball in play and not a referee making it about himself with some random interpretation of what counts as a proper throw
