Norway's squad rowing through Oslo

The crowd size and the location make it feel much bigger than a normal celebration. It is a smart way to turn a team moment into something the whole country can share, and that kind of energy can linger with players for a long time.
 
I dont think it is fair to call it embarrassing when the whole point is that the players and fans are clearly enjoying themselves and that is what matters, some of you would moan if a parade was too loud or too quiet or had the wrong weather and it is just a bit pathetic really
 
People are way too harsh on the side that is losing the argument here because this is not some scandal or some embarrassing act, it is a celebration and it should be treated like one, the players have every right to take part in a big public moment and the fans have every right to turn up and enjoy it, that does not make them naive or cringe or whatever other nonsense word people want to throw at them, it just means they care, and if you have ever seen a proper football town or a proper football country you know these things matter because they build memories and identity and give people something to hold onto and some of the replies acting like this is beneath them are honestly so joyless it is unreal
 
The appeal here is the scale of the crowd and the sense that everyone is on the same page. It is not about the rowing itself so much as the collective moment it creates.
 
The officials at this event would have had to get everything right for it to work and yet somehow the cynics still manage to complain about the whole thing as if anyone asked for their approval, the crowd is orderly, the players are engaged, the palace backdrop is doing half the work and instead of just letting a nice moment breathe people are picking at every tiny detail like it is a refereeing decision they need to litigate for three days, honestly some of the moaning in these threads is worse than any bad call because at least a bad call is about football, this is just people being determined to be miserable about a country enjoying itself
