PSG already resting Dembélé after one league game

Bit of a mad one really, PSG are already giving Dembélé a few days off after just one league game. It sounds ridiculous on the face of it, but then again this is exactly the sort of thing PSG can get away with when they have that much depth and control over the squad.

It also says a lot about how they manage star players now. Some will say it is smart load management, others will just call it another example of Ligue 1 being a joke. Either way, Dembélé is already being treated like a player they only need for certain parts of the season.

Feels like this will only fuel the usual debate about PSG, Ligue 1, and whether a player like him is actually being preserved for the big European nights rather than the weekly grind

The officials and the whole setup around PSG make a mockery of the sport sometimes because every time there is a debate about them it gets brushed off like it is normal and then suddenly the same people who complain about fixture congestion are silent when a club can just decide to rest a star after one game and everyone acts like it is genius when in reality the rest of the league never gets that luxury and the whole thing is just stacked in their favour and the scheduling and the protection and the constant little advantages all add up and you end up with a system where the referee side of things and the league side of things just feel like they are there to keep the machine running rather than actually making it competitive

It is hard to criticise the logic if the objective is to keep him fresh for the most important matches. PSG have the squad and the money to absorb that kind of rotation, which is not something most clubs can do. Still, it does make the league look a bit unserious.
