PSG already resting Dembélé after one league game

Dembélé is the easiest player in the world to overhype because every season the same cycle starts, a few flashes, a bit of rest, then suddenly he is back in the conversation like he has done something unbelievable and people forget how often his body lets him down, and PSG are the perfect club for that because they can hide the gaps and manage the minutes and make it all look intentional but it still leaves you watching him and wondering how a player with that much talent can be treated like glass every single time and still be spoken about as if he is some untouchable superstar

At this point PSG are not even pretending to use him like a normal winger, they are just planning around his availability and hoping the calendar works in their favour. It is clever in one sense because they know exactly what they are getting, but it also shows how fragile the whole thing is when one of your biggest names needs this level of handling every few weeks and everyone just shrugs and accepts it

On a tactical level it makes sense because if a team knows a player cannot sustain heavy minutes then reducing the load early can keep him sharp for the stretch that matters most. But the more you think about it the more it feels like PSG have created a system where domestic football is just background noise and the real season starts later on, which is why every debate about them turns into the same tired argument about Ligue 1 being too easy and the club being too stacked and the player only showing up when it suits them and honestly it just gets more ridiculous the longer you sit with it

It is sensible from a fitness point of view, especially if they want him available later in the season. The frustration comes from the fact that most clubs cannot afford to manage a player this way and still compete at the same level.

honestly this just makes me laugh because every time i think psg cant get more ridiculous they go and do something like this and it reminds me why people call the whole thing a meme league

nah i dont buy the idea that this means hes some kind of finished player because plenty of top players get managed and it does not mean they are broken it just means the club can afford to be careful and people are acting like this is shocking when it is just psg being psg

The interesting bit is not the rest itself, it is what it says about their priorities. If a player is being protected this early, then the domestic matches are clearly being treated as manageable enough without him, and that points to a squad built to absorb absences while still staying competitive later in the season.

People keep saying this is proof PSG are doing something clever and maybe it is but it also makes the whole thing feel a bit hollow because if you can rest a supposed key player after one league game then what exactly are we even watching in the domestic season and why do other clubs have to grind themselves into dust while PSG can just choose when the important part starts and the rest of the league is expected to nod along like this is normal and the funny part is if another club did this everyone would call it arrogance or disrespect but because it is PSG people just turn it into another joke and move on and honestly I get why because it is hard to take seriously when the same club can be this relaxed from day one
