Ronaldo scores in a sixth World Cup edition

I get why people are tired of the endless Ronaldo talk, but this one is hard to dismiss because it is such a strange and specific record and it says a lot about his career. He has been around forever, kept himself in the conversation, and still finds a way to make headlines, and even if you are not a fan you have to admit that is something special, the amount of people rushing in to argue about it just proves how big he still is and honestly at this point the man could probably score in another tournament and half the internet would still be pretending it was nothing

The record works because it is rare in two different ways: you need repeated World Cup qualification and a player who remains capable of scoring across a long stretch of time. That combination is difficult to replicate, which is why this feels more meaningful than a lot of other milestones.

Here come the lads pretending they are above the hype while posting the loudest replies in the thread, proper comedy really because if you truly didnt care you would just scroll past instead of writing a paragraph about how everyone else is obsessed and how the record means nothing, absolute shameless behaviour

It is one of those milestones that will probably age well because it is so hard to repeat. Whether people like him or not, it is a proper football stat.
