Savio's City farewell goes down well

The measured take is that this is exactly the sort of post that gets over-analysed because it is short, simple, and easy to project onto. But then you look at the replies and realise football fans are basically trained to turn any goodbye into a referendum on the player, the club, the fee, the PR, the sincerity, the whole lot, and it spirals from there into people comparing it to other farewell videos and mocking the wording like they are literary critics when really it is just a lad saying thanks and moving on, which is somehow enough to start a whole argument about authenticity and whether modern football is dead inside

The post is short, but that does not automatically make it fake. Some players are just brief on social media, and the reaction says more about fans than it does about him. It is a pretty normal goodbye dressed up as a controversy.

people act like every farewell has to be some deep emotional essay but most of these lads are just getting on with it and moving to the next thing, if the message is short then maybe thats just him and not some big sign he never cared, football fans love turning basic stuff into a whole drama

the way people are pretending to be heartbroken over a one line goodbye is hilarious honestly like you lot were never sat there emotionally invested in every minute he played and now suddenly its all tears and fake outrage because the post wasnt long enough for your taste, football fans are so easy to wind up

city fans getting a farewell and the rest of us getting free entertainment, absolute scenes really, one minute its thanks for the memories and the next minute everyone is acting like the club has been personally insulted by lowercase letters

nah i dont buy the whole he didnt care thing because some players just arent dramatic online and that doesnt mean they hated the club, fans are always desperate for some big emotional display and if they dont get it they call it fake which is a bit much really
