Spurs agree £75m deal for Savinho

People keep acting like Savinho is some guaranteed star and that is what annoys me because the lad has had moments but the fee is being treated like he is already a finished article when he is not, and then you get the usual circus of fans pretending output does not matter because potential sounds better in a tweet, if he was a Chelsea player people would be laughing even harder and saying he was overhyped and overpaid, but because it is Spurs everyone wants to turn it into some genius move or some joke depending on their agenda, and honestly the whole thing is just another reminder that transfer talk has become performance art

On one hand I can see why Spurs would chase this type of player because they need pace and unpredictability, and on the other hand the fee is so extreme that it invites ridicule before he has kicked a ball. What really gets me though is how every big transfer now turns into a referendum on the entire market, as if one winger signing means the whole game has collapsed, and maybe it has, maybe we are all just watching rich clubs play chicken with each other until even average players are priced like superstars

I can see the argument for paying a premium if you think the player is the right fit and the age profile makes sense, but £75m still feels like the kind of number that makes everyone sit up and laugh first. And the mad thing is if he starts well the same people will act like they always believed in him, if he struggles it will be endless memes, and if Spurs have another big window then every rival fan is going to be absolutely unbearable about it, bloody hell football never learns and we keep doing this over and over like mugs

The fee makes sense only if Spurs view him as a long-term starter rather than a rotation piece. At that level, they are effectively buying years of development as well as current ability, which is why the market keeps inflating.

I do not think it is fair to act like Spurs have just thrown money away for the sake of it because they clearly see something in Savinho and the age profile alone means there is room for the move to work, people are just too quick to dismiss any transfer that does not come with huge numbers attached already, and yeah the fee is massive but there is always a difference between a player being expensive and a player being bad, those are not the same thing, the reaction to this is way more about the badge than the football and that is why everyone is losing their minds over it, Spurs have every right to back themselves and if he fits then the shouting from the sidelines will look silly as usual

Spurs fans are in the replies acting like theyve signed the second coming and rivals are acting like the club has committed a crime its proper comedy because nobody is even pretending to be balanced anymore
