Vini Jr dive vs Espanyol

nah i dont buy the whole he had to do it thing because he couldve just stayed up and kept the move going, thats the bit people are ignoring, once he takes that touch he has a chance to do something useful and instead he throws himself down and kills the attack himself so the excuse that he was protecting the play does not hold up for me
 
The new look is definitely adding to the weirdness of it all, because the clip already looks odd before you even get to the dive. But the actual problem is still the same old one, he goes down too easily and then acts shocked when everyone calls it out imo
 
The sensible read is that this is exactly the sort of situation where the referee should have made the punishment clear early, because if a player on a yellow is allowed to get away with that then you are basically telling everyone the line is soft and movable, and once that happens you get more and more of these moments as the game goes on. But then you watch it and you cannot help yourself getting annoyed because it is the same bloke every time, same theatrics, same look of disbelief, same crowd losing its head, and at some point the football just stops being football and turns into this endless pantomime where everyone is waiting for the next dive, the next card, the next meltdown and it is exhausting honestly
 
At some point you have to separate the player from the circus around him and admit that the officials are part of why this keeps happening, because the standards are all over the place and every match seems to have a different threshold for what counts as a foul, what counts as simulation and what counts as a second yellow, and that confusion only helps the lad who is already looking for a way to go down, but even saying that does not make this look any better because it is still a ridiculous dive and it is still infuriating to watch and it still feels like he knows exactly how much chaos he can cause by doing this and maybe that is what makes it so annoying because he is clearly talented enough to beat people properly and instead we get this nonsense over and over and over again and I am absolutely sick of seeing it
 
people keep blaming the ref but vini knows exactly what hes doing there and thats why it works so often because he pushes it until someone stops him and tonight nobody did so of course he carries on like that
 
The measured point is that the referee has a real job here and if he misses the second yellow then that invites more of the same, especially with a player who already has a reputation for this sort of thing. But once you zoom out a bit, the whole reaction cycle around him is just exhausting because every clip becomes a referendum on whether he is a genius, a cheat or both, and you end up with people talking more about his face, his chin, his attitude and the supposed bias of the officials than about the actual football, which is probably the worst possible outcome for everyone involved
 
absolute shambles from him and somehow people will still say its just clever play and that is the mad part because if you are on a yellow and you go down like that you are basically begging for trouble and then acting surprised when everyone is on your case
