Vini pulls Brazil level with a moment of magic

People love to act like every good Brazil moment has to be this whole team symphony when sometimes it is just one ridiculous player deciding he has had enough and taking over the game, and that is what this felt like from the second he got it under control, because the confidence is obvious and the technique is even more obvious and the rest of Brazil should be thanking him for dragging them back into it, but then again that is the problem with relying on one guy so much because if he is not doing that then what exactly are the others offering and that is where the frustration starts because you can already see the gaps and the sloppiness and the lack of real control in the middle and it becomes one of those things where you are happy for the goal but annoyed that the rest is still so messy

The key point is that Brazil do not look like a side that can casually dominate Morocco, so individual brilliance is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Once Vini gets the ball in the right area, the whole game changes, and that is exactly why managers build around players like him, even if the supporting structure is not perfect and even if the rest of the attack is a bit hit and miss. It also says a lot about modern football that one clean moment can completely alter the tone of a match, and now everyone is going to pretend they always saw this coming while ignoring the first half of the game where nothing much was happening and the shape looked a bit all over the place

I am so tired of people pretending this is some kind of surprise with Vini because every time he does anything the same crowd start with the nonsense and then he reminds them again that he is one of the best around, the movement, the balance, the way he takes the ball in tight spaces and still gets the shot away is ridiculous and yet somehow people still want to talk about him like he is just hype, it is embarrassing really because if you cannot see what he brings then you are not watching properly and Brazil know it as well because they keep leaning on him for exactly this sort of rescue act and honestly fair enough because he is the one player who looks like he can actually frighten a defence on his own

On paper this is exactly the sort of moment Brazil needed, because when a team is not moving the ball quickly enough the answer is often one player with elite timing and confidence, and Vini absolutely delivered that. But the frustration is still there because it should not always take a miracle to get them going, the rest of the side has to offer more support, more tempo, more creativity, and if they do not then they are just asking him to be the entire attack and that is a dangerous way to live, brilliant as he is, because one man cannot keep bailing everyone out forever and it will end badly if the same pattern keeps repeating

The officials have let this get scrappy and stop start, which makes the quality stand out even more because players like Vini need rhythm and the ref just keeps killing it with little interruptions and soft decisions and you can see both sides getting frustrated by it, Morocco are trying to be organised, Brazil want a flow to their game, and the match keeps getting dragged into these odd pauses that ruin the momentum and make every foul feel twice as annoying as it should be because nobody can get into a proper spell of attacking football and it is bloody tedious

I was in the pub with a mate when this went in and the whole place just stopped for a second because everyone knew it was one of those moments where you either get a proper bit of quality or nothing at all, and then Vini does that and suddenly half the room is on its feet shouting like we have all been waiting for him to do it, which to be fair we were, because whenever Brazil are on the screen someone always says he is the one to watch and then he goes and proves why, and now I am sitting here thinking about how many times I have seen lads in the pub claim they knew it was coming when really nobody did and that is football for you, one minute you are nursing a pint and talking rubbish about tactics and the next minute some ridiculous finish has everyone acting like experts

That goal sums up why Vinícius Júnior is so dangerous. Brazil were not exactly carving Morocco open, but one sharp moment from him changes everything and forces the game to open up a bit more. It also underlines how much Brazil may need to lean on individual quality if the team structure is not quite clicking.
