- Morocco have won four away games in a row, averaging 3.00 goals scored and only 0.50 conceded per game.
- Brazil have won six of their last 10 games, drawing once and losing three, averaging 2.57 goals per game in their last seven home games.
- Morocco have won three of their last five, drawing two, and are on a ten-game unbeaten run in all competitions.
Morocco have momentum
Morocco can upset the odds and beat Brazil in a closely fought Group C match at New York/New Jersey Stadium on Saturday. Morocco have an unbeaten streak of 10 games in all competitions (Won 8, Drawn 2) and are in fine form coming into this game, having won two and drawn one in their most recent three matches.
Azzedine Ounahi is the heartbeat of Morocco's midfield, a box-to-box midfielder who has been the fulcrum for his side's attacking play. Ouahbi's side are a youthful side and he has the freedom to be their creative spark, controlling the tempo and delivering balls to his forwards and full-backs.
Morocco will set up a compact mid-block and look to frustrate Brazil's build-up play. Morocco's full-backs, notably Achraf Hakimi, will look to bomb forward on the overlap and set up their strikers. Hakimi has three assists in his last five games and his pace and trickery on the right flank will be the key to Morocco's chances of creating chances.
Brazil are a world class unit
Carlo Ancelotti's side have a European backbone in defence, but maintain the traditional Brazilian flair in attack. Brazil have won their last three games, including a 6-2 thrashing of Panama and a 2-1 win over Egypt, and their confidence is growing.
Brazil play with the ball and look to rotate their midfielders in and out of the game to keep the ball and give their forwards space to get in behind their opponents. Rodrygo is the key to this as he is a brilliant player in tight areas and has the capability to score goals.
Vinícius Júnior is Brazil's best chance for a goal in this game, however, his pace and ability to take on players is what makes him a huge threat. Marquinhos is the leader at the back and will be crucial to containing Morocco's counters, he is a big player in the air and a good defender who has the ability to spread the play.
Ancelotti's men to be frustrated
I think Morocco have a fantastic chance of upsetting Brazil on Saturday, much like they did three years ago in a 2-1 Friendly International victory. The only difference is Morocco are unbeaten in their last 10, whereas, Brazil have lost three of their last 10. Morocco have an outstanding away record, winning their last four away matches, and have scored an average of 3.00 goals per game and conceded only 0.50. Morocco have also won both of their games, beating Burundi 5-0 and Madagascar 4-0, before drawing 1-1 with Norway. Brazil's average of 2.57 in their last seven games at home won't be a factor in the USA.
Morocco have had more time as a unit and have a clear identity. Morocco are more organised in structure and defend in a more compact way. Ouahbi's changes in personnel have not disrupted the solidity of the team, they are now clinical and their attacking play has improved. Youssef En-Nesyri is a clinical goalscorer and will enjoy this match as it will be a transition-based game, much to his liking.
Ancelotti has done a great job in Brazil, they are now looking like the team we expect them to be, but I think Morocco can take advantage of this clash between patient build-up and direct counters. Morocco can win this by taking control of the flanks, particularly Hakimi's. I will take Morocco to win at 5.6, Over 2.5 Goals at 2.07 and Both Teams to Score - No at 1.74.
