- APIA Leichhardt Tigers are unbeaten in their last two home league matches
- Manly United have won one and lost one of their last two away games in the NPL New South Wales
APIA a formidable force under Parisi
Saturday's NPL New South Wales 2026 match features two very different managers with distinctive philosophies. APIA coach Franco Parisi has built a high-octane, attack-minded side that have been thrilling to watch since he took charge in January 2023. They are the heavy favourites to win at 1.43, while the visitors Manly United, who are outsiders at 5.91, have a more measured, structured approach.
The visitors will be well drilled to keep the ball, keep a compact back four and maintain defensive shape, but don't expect to see much of their structured, possession-oriented game when they arrive at Lampton Park. Parisi's side are full of energy, width and fluidity in the final third and will want to dominate the ball in wide areas and press only when they are in a good position to regain possession.
APIA are second in the table with 39 points from 17 games and are solid in the title chase with Parisi's team looking like a team that could go the distance. Manly United are struggling in 11th with 19 points from the same number of games and will be looking to build some momentum by taking something from Saturday's fixture.
Manly can be dangerous if they get an early goal
Manly are better when they keep it tight, control territory and can allow their talented young players to express themselves in the build-up phase. The Tigers are a different beast and this will be a battle for the midfield with the hosts looking to exploit the transitions from high up the field while Manly will seek to keep it compact in the centre of the park and make the most of the counter attack.
They have had contrasting results in their past two games with a 1-2 away win at St George City followed by a 0-0 home draw against Blacktown City FC. The last meeting ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Manly ground three months ago in the NPL NSW 2026.
APIA have won three, drawn one and lost only one of their last five league games, but the only match they didn't win was the 1-1 home draw against Marconi Stallions and that came after a battling 2-1 away win over Spirit FC. Manly have won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five with their away form particularly shaky - two wins, one draw and six losses from nine.
APIA should have enough to take all three points
Given the home side are a formidable team with superior goal stats and odds that reflect their potential to win, I'm tipping APIA to take all three points here. There is also a good chance that this game will see over 2.5 goals as APIA will seek to play on the front foot. The over line is set at 2.5 goals and both teams can contribute to an open game, but the Tigers will have enough to nick it in the second half.
