Brisbane Olympic FC vs Peninsula Power Predictions

  • Brisbane Olympic FC have lost their last five matches in all competitions, conceding at least two goals on each occasion.
  • Peninsula Power are top of the NPL Queensland 2026 table, unbeaten in five (W4, D1) with four wins on the road (including a 4-0 win at Gold Coast United).
  • Peninsula Power have dominated this fixture since 2024, including a 5-1 victory in May 2024 and a 3-1 win in July 2024.
Peninsula Power can push forward into the NPL Queensland title race
This is one of the most intriguing matches in the NPL Queensland season on Sunday when Brisbane Olympic FC take on table-topping Peninsula Power at Goodwin Park, with the odds suggesting a one-sided affair. Peninsula are red-hot favourites at 1.53 to come away with the three points, while Olympic are huge underdogs at 4.61 and the draw is 4.33. Backing the visitors looks the obvious play here, but we're going to add a bit of spice to the bet by going for a 2-1 victory for the Power, which would probably represent their fair result. This fixture has a history of big scorelines and momentum shifts, which makes it difficult to back the visitors with confidence. Olympic have drawn 1-1 with Peninsula Power in one of their last 10 competitive meetings.
Olympic have the personnel to pressure Peninsula
Chris Grossman's men will come at Peninsula with a very positive 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 system, pressing high and looking to win the ball back to play through the thirds. Olympic have the players to do this with the likes of Kenshin Takagishi providing the creative spark, Ty Cobb offering an out-and-out targetman and wide threat, and Daniel Leck providing the moments of magic, such as the goal he scored and the assist for Olympic's late equaliser at Redlands United last weekend. Peninsula's style is also very positive and direct, but Aaron Philp's men are perhaps more balanced in their approach. The 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation they usually employ allows them to play compact and solid on the counter or wide to get in behind the defenders and deliver to Niyah Joseph, who is their focal point in the attack. The young striker has scored seven league goals in 2026 and is a constant threat in the final third. Jheison Macuace has also offered some creativity and goals in the centre of the field while Jordan Thurtell and Michael McGowan provide a solid and disciplined platform at the back.
Slick surface could suit the Power
The value in the overs market is clear and obvious. Over 2.5 goals is heavily favored, reflecting both teams' recent high-scoring matches, so it is no surprise to see the bookmakers are having a whale of a time with it. Olympic sit in the mid-to-lower half of the table in mid-June 2026 and look unlikely to push into the top six this season. Grossman's team have been prolific enough at times, but have conceded three or more goals in several recent matches and need to tighten up at the back. Peninsula are on 32 points from their 14 games and look like serious title contenders on their current form and the odds. The weather forecast is for rain in Brisbane on Sunday and that may suit Philp's direct approach more than Olympic's possession-based play on what will be a slick surface. Goodwin Park is an intimate setting where Olympic can make a few home fans feel like they're playing inside the team's shirt, but Peninsula have a strong away record and should have enough in reserve to edge this contest.
