- Broadmeadow Magic are unbeaten in their last 5 (W3, D2) and have won the last 5 meetings between the sides in all comps.
- Broadmeadow Magic are in their usual second place in the NNW 2026 (W4, D2, L1) with 14 points after 7 games.

Back the Magic to maintain momentum
Broadmeadow Magic have made their usual solid start to the season and are rightfully the 1.43 favourites to see off cup-winning Cooks Hill United on Friday. Broadmeadow Magic have registered three wins and two draws in their last five, remaining unbeaten through a sequence of games that includes back-to-back away victories at Weston Workers (2-1) and Newcastle Olympic (2-0).
Broadmeadow Magic have drawn their two previous home games of the season and are unbeaten in three at their home ground overall (W1, D2). Cameron Millar’s men are a well-drilled, possession-based outfit that have been playing a more free flowing brand of football since he took over the reins in November 2022. They press, but they’re not a suffocating side, preferring to set up a structured 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 with numerical control in the midfield areas and a number of players who can run at defences.
Cooks Hill United are a much more direct side with a high-energy style of play. Jamie Dunning has brought renewed energy and verve to the club off the back of a big recruitment drive over the off-season and his side are much more comfortable playing at pace and winning the ball back quickly after turning it over.
Cooks Hill have been a mixed bag
They have recorded one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five and failed to get a win in either of their two trips to Broadmeadow Magic. They have played well in patches this term, but a 1-1 draw at home to a struggling Newcastle Olympic side last time out was a disappointment.
The hosts are a superior outfit in terms of both league standing and recent head-to-head record, so it’s hard to see anything other than another win for the champions this Friday. Cooks Hill’s average of 2.33 goals scored and 1.33 conceded on the road in 2026 tells us that they have the capability to hurt Broadmeadow Magic, but are also vulnerable to the counter attack.
A clash between a ball-dominant side and a direct, counter-attacking outfit sets up an interesting chess match around the ball and transitions, but there’s an expectation that both teams to score (Yes) could be a winner at a shade of odds-on (1.49).
