- West Torrens Birkalla have won three, drawn one and lost just one of their last five NPL SA league matches.
- Campbelltown City have won two and lost three of their last five in the league.
A big local derby in the making
Second placed West Torrens Birkalla and seventh placed Campbelltown City will do battle in the NPL South Australia 2026 season on Friday and the form guide is split right down the middle between the two sides.
While Campbelltown City are on a two-game winning streak, Birkalla are on a two-game winning run and, with just 17 points from 13 games, the home side are some way off the pace of the second placed visitors who have accumulated 27 points from the same number of matches.
Birkalla are the bookies' favourites here at 2.44, but Campbelltown are only a little less favoured at 2.45, so this fixture could go either way.
West Torrens Birkalla are on the up
Birkalla have won their last two, thrashing Adelaide Comets 4-1 and holding off the promotion-chasing Croydon Kings 1-0, while Campbelltown will be buoyed by a 3-0 home win over bottom side Para Hills Knights last time out.
However, prior to that result, City were beaten 4-0 by Metro Stars away from home, so their form is a little mixed. City have failed to beat Birkalla in their last three meetings and failed to win their last home game against the same opponents.
Game of structure versus chaos
Birkalla are the more direct side, playing at a high tempo, pressing aggressively and pushing play quickly into wide channels to force turnovers. Their pacey and physical wingers can be difficult to contain and the team thrives on turnovers to launch attacks.
City are more structured in their build-up play, playing with a narrow midfield, trying to control the tempo and create openings for their number tens and wide runners. They are more conservative in their risk management, but are a much more dangerous team.
West Torrens Birkalla can nick it
Birkalla are the better side in the NPL SA and have the form, recent head-to-head record and better league position to suggest they can nick this contest.
Campbelltown are the home team and have the discipline and structure to get a result, so they can keep this game close. Birkalla have taken three, drawn one and lost two of their six away matches this season, conceding 12 goals in the process, while City have won three, drawn one and lost two of their half a dozen home games, scoring 11 goals themselves.
With both teams' strong attacking qualities and defensive vulnerabilities, the over 2.5 goals market is heavily favoured at 1.36, so we're going for a similar result. Both teams to score is also heavily favoured at 1.32, so this looks like a goal fest, whatever the result.
