- Charlestown Azzurri Reserves are the 1.23 favourites at home, with Belmont Swansea United SC Reserves listed at 8.6 and the draw at 5.75.
- Belmont have enjoyed the stronger campaign so far with 12 points from 7 games, leaving them 5th on the ladder, while Charlestown sit 10th with 5 points from 6 matches.
- Belmont ran out 3-2 winners in the most recent clash between these sides in the Northern NSW Reserve League on 27 March 2026, while the H2H has been a feisty fixture with plenty of goals.
System versus transition
This game looks like it will be a classic case of system versus transition with Belmont set up to break quickly and stretch the pitch and Charlestown looking to keep it tight and make it a grinding match. Belmont are the side who have been doing better and have the advantage on the overall form, however, this game is likely to be a lot tighter than the ladder suggests.
The game will be played under cool and showery conditions, which could see the ground play a little slick and bring second-ball duels and direct play into focus. Belmont will no doubt look to attack in numbers and try to turn Charlestown's back line, however, Rufo's men are more compact and system first. They've played structured shape, selected pressing triggers and shown collective work-rate. In contrast, Belmont's play is more about tempo, fitness and vertical thrusts.
Belmont are the more goal-happy side
The Belmont squad has played some excellent football at times under Mick Stafford, and the reserve side have been prolific in terms of goals scored. They have managed to keep the tempo high and attack in waves at the top end of the field, and they'll definitely pose a threat to the home side.
The visitors have been more goal-happy in the Reserves League, putting a number of multi-goal performances together and looking dangerous in transition when the opposition have been caught on the counter attack. They've also endured a couple of rough patches on the road where they've been blown away, but they do look like the side with more of an attacking edge.
In-form forward lines to decide
For Belmont, it's the young attacking players who will be the danger men here, as they come and go from the First Grade team, but they've been the ones putting the ball in the net for the Reserves this season. Charlestown will want to make it a scrappy affair, but their biggest problem has been the number of times they've been caught out at the back.
They've drawn two and lost in their last four, with draws against Edgeworth and Adamstown and a 2-1 win over Valentine sandwiched between defeats. Their defence has been the issue. However, this should be a tight and entertaining clash.
We're going with a small stakes wager on Over 2.5 goals at 1.28 and Both Teams To Score - Yes at 1.57, with a 1-1 or 2-1 either way result our main selection in the correct score market. Charlestown are favoured but Belmont have the edge on the season-long form and they are coming off a 3-2 win against the same opponents last time out.
