- Dulwich Hill are winless in their opening three games of the 2026 New South Wales League 1 season.
- Prospect United have taken two draws and one defeat, including a 3-0 thrashing by Northern Tigers.
- This is one of the first-ever meetings between these clubs in FNSW League One.
Tight game expected as new clubs clash
Dulwich Hill FC will be relieved to see newly promoted Prospect United FC close to them in the early-season New South Wales League 1 table, Dulwich Hill with one point from their opening three matches and Prospect United with two.
The new boys have picked up a couple of 1-1 draws against Central Coast II and Newcastle Jets Youth but then failed to show up for a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Northern Tigers last weekend.
Darren Camilleri is in his 11th season at Prospect United and has installed a structure-led style of play that does not take many risks but should be difficult to play against when United lock into their shape. United will not be the most expansive team in the competition, preferring to sit in a compact shape, absorb pressure and hit Dulwich Hill on the break, without chasing after the ball too much.
Dulwich Hill boss Berhan Brandan Ackalmaz has made it clear that his team’s main focus this season will be on solidity, having signed new keeper Patrick Williams from Marconi to provide stability to the defence and competition for places in a squad that has started 2026 with a 1-1 draw against Hakoah, back-to-back losses to Hills United and Central Coast Mariners Youth.
New attacking trio to boost Dulwich Hill
The main problem for Dulwich Hill has been a lack of bite in the attack, but the addition of Jesper Webber, Marcus Lal and Jan Schmidt should give them a different type of forward to run at the opponents this weekend. New signings Robert D’Angelo and Daniel Kraljevic have added experience at this level and depth to Prospect United’s squad as they make the step up in class.
Praneet Singh was a key player in Prospect United’s 2025 promotion playoff run and he is a capable scorer at this level as well as providing leadership to the squad. He will also need to stay focused as Prospect United’s shape and defensive discipline should ensure they are tough to break down, especially away from home.
This match will be seen as a kind of a litmus test locally for how good Prospect United are in League One and whether Dulwich Hill can recover from a rocky start. This will be a tight, tense match with neither side likely to run away with it.
Prospect could edge the win
Our belief is that Prospect United’s momentum from their promotion-winning 2025 campaign and their organised, low-risk style will see them edge a win against Dulwich Hill. Jakob Petterson and Reo Hirose were stars of the show in Prospect’s playoff run last year and are the type of players that can unlock any door in the game with a moment of magic on the counter-attack or from distance.
The odds for this game are very tight with Prospect the slight favorites at 2.25, Dulwich Hill 2.59 and the draw 3.54. We are siding with the new kids and the momentum of their recent promotion, although we’re expecting a very cagey affair.
A long-awaited goal could win it for Prospect, so we’ll take them to prevail by a goal to nil, although Over 2.5 goals at 1.46 is our top bet for this encounter with the game likely to be decided by a set piece or a moment of brilliance in an otherwise drab matchup.
