- Moreton City Excelsior U23 have won four of the last five head-to-head U23 meetings, including a 3-0 victory in March 2026.
- Eastern Suburbs U23 have conceded 16 goals in their last five U23 meetings with Moreton City in all competitions.
- Moreton City U23 have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five U23 games, including a 7-0 win over Brisbane City and a 4-1 away win at Peninsula.
Back the both teams to score bet
Moreton City are currently in the top three in the NPL Queensland U23 with approximately 19 points from 11 games and will be keen to stay there to secure a finals berth.
Eastern Suburbs are mid-table on around 16 points from the same number of matches and need to snag a win this weekend to close the gap to the promotion places.
The bookmakers have Moreton City as narrow favourites at 1.95, which seems a bit short given Suburbs are also in good form and available at 3.03.
The draw at 3.88 also seems a little low, but we're going to take the match odds of 1.3 on both teams to net in this game as our main selection.
Contrasting styles on show at Heath Park
Cameron Millar's NPL side have enjoyed a good campaign so far and much of the success is built on the young talent that comes up from the ranks of Sam Dickinson's U23 program.
That's because Dickinson's U23 philosophy is to integrate the players seamlessly. This is an attack-minded outfit that will play with a back three in order to allow space for their attacking players to make their moves. They also press the ball high up the pitch, looking to win it back quickly and punish the opposition.
Reda Alrikabi's vision for the Eastern Suburbs U23 is different to that of Moreton City. Bart Stokes is linked to U23 management and there's a feeling that it could be a matter of time before this U23 side are running around in senior colours. The style of play is structured, with a preference for building up from the back and playing on the front foot.
The Suburbs have players who can make the game tick quickly and get in behind with their full backs providing width and a back four that can keep it tight when necessary. They have hit some great form in recent weeks, winning four of their last five U23 matches, including 4-0 and 3-0 victories over Rochedale Rovers and Magic United respectively.
Moreton City to edge out the hosts
The hosts are in good shape and Moreton City are just a little bit better. The visitors have dominated this fixture in recent years and their greater attacking prowess should see them through to the win on Sunday. But with Eastern in fine form, we think this will be a high-scoring game with the home side knowing the Heath Park surface well, we'll take the visitors to edge this one.
Moreton City's front four, with young Marquez Walters in the engine room, have been in prolific form of late. The Suburbs have also been scoring plenty with their main U23 attacking players finding the net in April and May, but also with senior squad players who have made appearances for them this term.
