- Elche have won two and lost three of their last five matches in all competitions.
- Valencia CF have won three and lost two of their last five games.
Sarabia’s men will be up for it
Elche are struggling to escape the bottom three and now sit 18th in LaLiga 2025-2026 after 30 games, picking up just 29 points so far. The White and Greens beat Aston Villa 2-1 in an away friendly a few days ago, but they were beaten 1-0 by Rayo Vallecano in their most recent LaLiga fixture.
Eder Sarabia’s team have employed a more patient and possession-based approach to the game since he took over in July 2024. They are very well organised in a 4-3-3 system and like to dominate the ball and create overloads out wide to stretch the opposition’s defence.
Sarabia’s structured approach to build-up play and situational pressing allows Elche to control the pace of games, but it remains to be seen how his men fare against Valencia CF’s high-tempo approach on Saturday.
Corberán’s men are having a go
14th placed Valencia CF have 35 points on the board from their 30 games played in LaLiga and will want to secure mid-table safety with some solid performances.
Carlos Corberán has been in charge since December 2024 and has set Valencia up to play in a more direct and aggressive manner.
Valencia CF will press high up the pitch and use their energy and pressing style to disrupt opponents, before hitting them on the counterattack. They are a more dynamic team than Elche, often changing shape to overload defences or block the play, depending on the game state.
Elche have an advantage at home
Rafa Mir leads the line for Elche with eight LaLiga goals in 25 appearances, but the White and Greens will have a hard time making an impact against Valencia’s pressing style. Hugo Duro is Valencia’s top scorer this season with nine goals in 29 games, while Elche’s players will be ready to fight.
Valencia CF won 2-0 away to Sevilla in mid-January but were then beaten 3-2 at home by Celta Vigo last time out. These two sides last met in the league two months ago and drew 1-1 at the Mestalla, so Valencia will know they will need to work hard for the win.
Elche have a better chance of winning at home in this contest as they have a good record at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, having lost just twice in 15 games this term. Valencia have leaked 27 goals in 15 away LaLiga games, an average of 1.80 per game.
We’re taking the home side here at 2.32 as Elche look to avoid defeat at all costs, but we expect goals at both ends as the tactical styles of these two clash. The odds for Over 2.5 goals are 2.05 and we’re having a flutter on both teams to score at 1.8.
