- FK Auda's last two results have been L0-2 and D1-1.
A tale of two managers
This 2nd-qualifying-round UEFA Conference League tie shouldn't get too heated as there is no rivalry between these two clubs and the progression is all that matters to either side. There is, however, a tale of two managerial philosophies that should play out on Thursday night.
Marius Baciu was appointed as manager of FCSB on 19 May 2026 and he has made his side sharper and higher-tempo. They press and press to win the ball back in their opponent's half and then turn defense into attack with pace.
Didier Zanetti took over FK Auda on 1 January 2026 and he has turned them into a compact, disciplined and patient unit which is capable of breaking with real pace.
A test of steel
FCSB come into this one as the overwhelming favourite at 1.2, but they have only won one of their last five games, drawing one and losing three. The home side's defensive steel is their key strength, however, and they have only conceded one goal in four games at Arena Nationala, across all competitions.
Auda's away record, by contrast, is pretty good with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five across all competitions, but they are still in the shadow of their hosts in terms of quality and class.
Oskars Rubenis is their biggest threat as he has scored two goals in their last five, in a team that has netted just four in the same sequence. However, FK Auda's average of 1.00 goals scored and 0.60 goals conceded per away game across all competitions is a pretty good set of numbers to travel with, so Zanetti's men should be able to stay compact enough to stop FCSB running away with this one.
Side with the hosts
Auda will not have a better opportunity to pinch a result in this European tie, but it's hard to argue that they will beat a top-level team on the road in Romania. They failed to make a statement by losing at home to Riga FC (0-2) and then drawing away to Rigas Futbola Skola (1-1) in the previous qualifying round.
So, the value is probably in backing FCSB to win and both teams not to score, which would match up with the host's defensive numbers as well as the lack of attacking output on show by the visitors on the road. But, if Auda stay in the game by keeping things tight, they could just nick it on the counter.
FCSB have won five, drawn one and lost four of their last ten across all competitions, which makes them solid but not spotless favourites for this encounter. Auda, on the other hand, have won four, drawn three and lost three of their last ten, which also makes them a stubborn but not quite good enough opponent to topple the hosts.
