Two of the worst teams in the Northern Territory Darwin Premier League 2026 lock horns in this Sunday’s derby match and whilst Garuda FC are one point worse off than their visitors, they are still on the hunt for their first win of the season.
Garuda’s gaffer is a risk taker who favours his full backs to play high and wide and his players to push forward when they have the ball. Unfortunately, this leaves them prone to being caught on the counter attack and they have been caught out countless times in this fashion since the season kicked off.
Palmerston Rovers’ boss is the polar opposite in terms of his tactical philosophy and prefers his players to set up deep and in numbers, defending deep and looking to spring forward at their opponents. However, their defensive shape has folded on multiple occasions and cost his side vital points.

This clash of styles should create an end-to-end game, where Garuda’s high tempo should test Palmerston’s compactness and both sides will be open to the counter.
