- Garuda FC are without a win or a point in their last three home fixtures
- Palmerston Rovers have lost their last five consecutive league fixtures, failing to earn a single point
- Garuda FC have lost their previous three home league games, conceding an average of 5.33 goals per home game
In for the win at each end
Two of the worst teams in the Northern Territory Darwin Premier League 2026 lock horns in this Sunday’s derby match and whilst Garuda FC are one point worse off than their visitors, they are still on the hunt for their first win of the season.
Garuda’s gaffer is a risk taker who favours his full backs to play high and wide and his players to push forward when they have the ball. Unfortunately, this leaves them prone to being caught on the counter attack and they have been caught out countless times in this fashion since the season kicked off.
Palmerston Rovers’ boss is the polar opposite in terms of his tactical philosophy and prefers his players to set up deep and in numbers, defending deep and looking to spring forward at their opponents. However, their defensive shape has folded on multiple occasions and cost his side vital points.
Palmerston Rovers to just about pip it
The hosts have been out of sorts since the start of the campaign, and whilst Palmerston Rovers are also in poor form, they are slightly ahead of Garuda in the table in 7th place with three points from seven league matches.
They are winless and there is no value in them to win in the outright market, however, with odds of 2.19, they do make a slight edge over Garuda, who are priced at 2.63. The draw is currently priced at 3.78 and the visitors should be much further out than that.
Goals are in fashion
This clash of styles should create an end-to-end game, where Garuda’s high tempo should test Palmerston’s compactness and both sides will be open to the counter. The ‘Over 2.5 goals’ market is favoured here at 1.22 and, although it’s a clear favourite, is one that makes plenty of sense given the respective defensive frailties of each side.
Neither side has stood out in recent matches, with no real key players emerging and it is difficult to identify a correct score selection. Both teams are desperate to end their winless streaks and this should be a lively encounter with local bragging rights at stake.
