- Lens have won three of the last five head-to-heads, Auxerre once and one ended level.
- The visitors have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five, while Lens have won three, drawn one and lost once.
- Les Sang et Or have conceded just 0.5 goals per home game against Auxerre across their last five home head-to-heads.
Lens have Auxerre’s number
Lens have won the last meeting with Auxerre and will be looking to do so again when they face off in Ligue 1 2026-2027 on Saturday. RC Lens have conceded just 0.5 goals per game in their last five at home to Auxerre (W3, D1, L1), and should take the points once more this weekend.
Les Sang et Or have had the better of Auxerre in recent years, but Will Still's side are in decent form, which should make for a competitive match this weekend. Auxerre have won two, drawn two and lost just one of their last five and arrive at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.
Auxerre should be a challenge for Lens
Lens have won five, drawn three and lost two of their last ten in all competitions and after a 2-2 home draw with Royal Charleroi SC, a 3-1 win over Villarreal CF and a 0-2 defeat to Sunderland, it's difficult to be too bullish about their prospects.
Their home form across all competitions is somewhat better with three wins, one draw and two defeats, although they've shipped eight goals in six home games.
A.J. Auxerre have taken five wins, three draws and two defeats from their last 10 in all competitions, with an identical record of two wins, two draws and two losses away from home. They've scored nine goals in their six away games across all competitions, so they can certainly cause problems for Lens here.
Both teams to score likely
There's more to this game than meets the eye as Will Still takes on his old club Lens, who he left by mutual consent to take up the reins at Auxerre in the summer.
Thelonius Bair is Auxerre's livewire up top and the striker has scored three of their seven goals across the last five, so it's hard to ignore the Both Teams to Score market at 1.65 and Over 2.5 goals at 1.62 for this matchup.
Lens are the bookmakers' choice at 1.59, with Auxerre going off at 5.2 and the draw at 4.0.
It's likely to be a relatively tight matchup with Lens favourites to edge it, but this should be a good watch as two coaches with distinct tactical philosophies do battle. Les Sang et Or play a high-energy 3-4-3 system, focusing on width, structure and controlled build-up, while Auxerre are a more proactive unit in 4-3-3, with an aggressive pressing style, fast vertical transitions and a quicker tempo. Still's side are coming off a nice 0-1 win at SV Werder Bremen, which should help them get over the line.
