- Adelaide Cobras Reserves have won three of their last five State League 1 Reserves matches and scored at least two goals in each of those victories.
- Cobras Reserves won the reverse fixture 3-1 in March 2026 in State League 1 Reserves.
- Both teams have scored in two of the last three head-to-head meetings between the clubs, including a 2-2 draw in February 2025.
Mid-table clash should be a good game
South Adelaide Reserves are inconsistent while Adelaide Cobras have found their rhythm in SA State League 1 Reserves action this year. Saturday's contest should be another good game between clubs that have a long history and use their reserves teams to develop young players.
The Cobras are sitting pretty in mid-table on around 18 points from 12 games and will cement that position if they can come away with all three points. South Adelaide are near the bottom of the table on approximately 10 points from the same number of games and are desperate for the win to take them up and restore some confidence to the squad.
Cobras boss John Falidis and his assistant Enzo Giannone play a pragmatic, compact game that has their team soaking up pressure and then punishing the hosts on the counter-attack. James Antoniou and Talon McLachlan both scored in Cobras' last game, a 3-0 win over The Cove, and the goals are being spread across the team.
South Adelaide vulnerable to counter-attack
Anthony Rideout and Greg Videon are not afraid to give young players a shot on the reserves team, but have struggled to shore up the backline. South Adelaide try to control the play with the ball at their feet and build attacks from their midfielders, but when their tactics go wrong they are vulnerable to the counter-attack - which they have been lately.
South Adelaide have won only one of their last five league games and lost 5-3 to the Croydon Kings, so they need to tighten up at the back. But Cobras are on a roll at the moment and the odds are right for an away win here, although there is enough of an opening for South Adelaide to get on the scoresheet.
Cobras can be backed at 1.67, against South Adelaide's 3.67 and the draw at 4.33. The visitors should come away with the win because of their recent good form and position in the table, but there is also value in the both teams to score bet at 1.32 in this wide-open clash.
