- Glenorchy have dominated the head-to-head, most recently thrashing Taroona 6-1 on 18 April 2026. The Knights had also beaten Taroona 5-0 in 2018 and 3-0 in 2020.
- Glenorchy are 2nd on 20 points from 11 games in the WSL table, Taroona are 7th on 10 from 11.
- The Knights have scored 34 goals in 11 games, the second best in the Tasmanian WSL.
Taroona can be tight, but Glenorchy’s guns are loaded
Taroona's form has been patchy and inconsistent but they have always found a way to stay in games and keep them interesting. There have been goals at both ends when they have been at their best, but Taroona have been porous at the back when they have allowed the opposition too much time and space in behind.
Riley Pitchford's side can be a hard to break down if they get their shape and discipline right. Taroona are a compact, structured team with the structure to sit deep and counter-attack when they need to. However, against a possession-heavy side who press high up the pitch, such as the Glenorchy Knights, it can be a tricky task to clear your lines and keep your defensive shape.
Glenorchy's young side have really given it a go in 2026 with Ivica Bolonja's team going for the throat and the ball with a real high-press approach that has turned most of their games into quick-fire, attacking clashes. The danger isn't coming from one player either, but instead from all over the pitch, as their wide runners and strikers continue to put up multi-goal hauls.
Knights are on a roll and can win, probably to nil
Taroona will get opportunities to counter-attack on Saturday if Glenorchy get too aggressive, and their captain Madi James will be able to help orchestrate those moments, as well as keeping her team together when they have to dig in and ride out tough spells.
Taroona's recent five-game form shows a 1-1 draw at Kingborough, a 1-2 loss at Launceston City, a 4-2 home win over South Hobart, a 0-3 defeat to Devonport and a 3-1 success at Launceston United.
But Glenorchy's form is superior. The Knights arrive off the back of a 2-2 draw with South Hobart, a 4-0 win over Launceston United, a 6-0 win at Riverside and a 5-0 away victory over Launceston City, with a 0-2 defeat at Devonport the only blip in that sequence.
It is hard to argue with the odds on Saturday's game with Glenorchy at 1.23, Taroona at 9.25 and the draw at 5.9. However, a Glenorchy win to nil looks the most likely scenario. Cool and clear conditions around Hobart should suit the team who are more structured and disciplined, but the Knights have just too much firepower for Taroona to claim a surprise result.
A Glenorchy victory is the most probable outcome, although the hosts can keep it tight if they manage to weather the storm in the early stages and nick a goal or two to make the game interesting in the latter stages.
