- The hosts are unbeaten in their last three home fixtures (W2, D1) and are fresh from three consecutive victories.
- Gillingham have won just five of their 22 away matches in League Two this season (W5, D7, L10).
- Both teams scored in the last meeting in the league five months ago, a 1-1 draw at Priestfield.
Barnet to build on momentum at The Hive
A Barnet side high on confidence after three consecutive wins should have enough to get the better of 18th placed Gillingham at The Hive, where the Bees have won nine, drawn six and lost just seven of their 22 games in League Two this term.
The home side, who are ninth in the table with 70 points from 44 games, have won four and drawn one of their last five, seeing off Barrow 3-2 at home before following up with a 2-1 away win at Notts County.
Kabongo Tshimanga is Barnet’s main offensive threat with 16 goals in 42 League Two matches, and the Congolese forward has contributed six of the Bees’ last 13 goals.
Dean Brennan has favoured a bold 3-4-2-1 system for most of his tenure at The Hive, and his team’s structured build-up play and pressing style from central pivots has been rewarded with an impressive recent run of results.
While the Bees have been prolific, they have allowed their full-backs and wing-backs to get forward to overload in wide areas, and in doing so, they have occasionally been exposed at the back.
Gills need a win after two consecutive defeats
A similar theme seems to run through Gillingham’s DNA since the appointment of Gareth Ainsworth in March 2025, with the Gills pressing in numbers and looking to disrupt opponents when out of possession.
Ainsworth’s ability to adapt the system in the heat of the moment has served the Gills well, and they have become much more of a collective pressing unit since he took the reins.
Ronan Hale has scored two in Gillingham’s last five, but their top scorer in the fourth tier is Bradley Dack who has seven goals in 39 appearances.
The Gills have allowed 30 goals away in the league this term, an average of 1.36 per game, while Barnet have scored an average of 1.45 at home and conceded an average of 1.23.
Goals at both ends look likely in this game considering the contrasting styles and the odds of 23/25 on the Both Teams to Score market are a fair reflection of that likelihood.
With odds of 21/50, Barnet are the clear favourites to take the win and we’re happy to side with the home team to claim all three points on Saturday.
Over 2.5 goals is slightly overpriced at 19/25 considering the average number of goals scored and conceded by both sides, but we’ll go with that as a prediction as well.
