Cork can keep Bray at bay
Bray Wanderers AFC have gone backwards since losing 2-0 to Athlone Town and now look set to lose at home to Cork City FC, who have been very solid since Gerard Nash took over as manager on 15 May 2025. The Seagulls have won only one of their 5 games since that 2-0 away defeat to Athlone, slipping into a slump with three straight defeats. Bray drew 0-0 at home to Galway United, losing on penalties, before the two games that put them in a pickle. They were beaten 4-0 at Longford Town in what looked a fair result and then lost 2-0 at Athlone Town, who are very similar to Bray in that they can turn it on in terms of quality, but are often too inconsistent to keep pace with the top teams. Cork have won 4 of their 5 First Division since Nash took over, drawing the other, and look far more settled as a unit than they were under the previous regime. Cork City were a little loose and could be turned over in games by opponents with a more settled feel about them, as happened a couple of times. Cork now have that settled edge and have been finishing games off, which can be seen in their 2-2 away draw against Treaty United and 2-0 home victory over Wexford FC in their two most recent games.
Contrast in systems and styles
The hosts play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 system that is more direct and suited to the counter attack than Cork's 3-5-2 system with wing backs. The Rebel Army are built around possession and dominance in midfield, with plenty of width to come from deep areas. Bray's main weapon is to nick the ball back and then burst forward, preferably down the wings where they can overload the full backs.

Cork should win this, but Bray's solid home numbers suggest this won't be a walkover. Over 2.5 goals at 1/2 and both teams to score at 9/20 look like solid bets for a game where each side will have opportunities and where the hosts will try to hurt Cork on the break.
