- Brighton & Hove Albion U21 have won four of their seven home matches in Premier League 2 2025-2026 (D1, L2).
- Fulham U21 have won six of their eight away matches in Premier League 2 2025-2026.
- Fulham U21 find the net 2.50 times per away match in Premier League 2 2025-2026 but concede 1.62.
Albion & Cottagers in similar form
Two clubs in similar league positions and recent form meet on Friday as Fulham U21 (4th, 32 points from 16 matches) travel to Amex Elite Football Performance Centre to face Brighton & Hove Albion U21 (12th, 23 points from 16 games).
Fulham have lost their last two away league matches but the Londoners thumped West Ham United Academy 5-0 in their last home fixture. Albion have taken four points from their last two PL2 fixtures with a 3-2 home win over Birmingham Academy followed by a 2-2 draw away to Newcastle United Academy.
Ruth & Mullins are not cut from the same cloth
Shannon Ruth’s Brighton are a technical team with some attacking flair when on form. They are more possession-based, progressive and fluid in their 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 shapes and prefer to create overloads in wide areas. Ruth’s young charges will sit deep and press in numbers when required, but her overriding aim is to develop technically gifted players that understand positional play.
Hayden Mullins’ Fulham U21 are the total opposite in every respect. He has installed a highly-disciplined and versatile tactical system that changes shape with the ball and in possession, but always keeps a dense midfield with players in compact blocks.
When Fulham win it, they win it on the counter-attack with their players’ intensity and physical ability allowing them to transition quickly. Mullins has some really dangerous players to work with, most notably Tom Wingate who has scored 3 of his side’s last 8 goals and will be a regular threat to the Brighton defence.
Fulham fancied to take the win
Brighton & Hove Albion U21 has not managed a home win in recent head-to-head encounters with Fulham U21, who have won the last two, including a 3-1 away win in last season’s Premier League 2. Fulham’s overall away record in PL2 is superior to Albion’s, but the home side’s technical quality and superior technical approach should ensure the hosts can keep it close on Friday.
The odds are slightly in Fulham’s favour at 36/25 with Brighton U21 at 67/50 and the Draw at 131/50. We are happy to have a punt on the visitors given their recent away struggles but the Draw is also a consideration.
It seems that the bookmakers are on the money when heavily backing ‘Both teams to score - Yes’ at 41/100. Both managers will have their teams well drilled, but Wingate is Fulham’s danger man and Nehemiah Oriola, who has three of Albion’s seven goals in the last five matches, their top marksman.
