- Cheltenham Town have won eight of their 20 home games in League Two 2025-2026 (D4, L8).
- Tranmere Rovers have won just five of their 21 away fixtures in League Two 2025-2026 (D5, L11).
Tranmere Rovers winless in last five
The March 2026 appointment of Peter Wild at Tranmere Rovers and the late September 2025 appointment of Steve Cotterill at Cheltenham Town have each produced their own unique set of results and have certainly livened up this mid-table League Two fixture.
Wild’s new, high-pressing and high-tempo game has already increased the collective work-rate of his Tranmere side, but the results just haven’t come yet.
Tranmere have lost four of their five games under Wild, drawing the other, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come out on top in this one.
Rovers won the last two of the last three meetings between the sides, while Tranmere won the most recent encounter five months ago in a 3-2 home win.
The visitors are without a win in their last away match at Cheltenham, however, and are 21/10 outsiders for this Tuesday’s game.
Cotterill’s Robins are in fine form
Cheltenham Town are 57/50 favourites to defeat Rovers, but it’s no surprise that the hosts are narrow favourites for this encounter given their form and home advantage. Cotterill has overseen a change in tactics and identity at The Jonny-Rocks Stadium since joining the club late in September. The new boss has deployed a much more flexible and pragmatic system than The Robins had previously played and has seen them look more structured and organised in defence.
Cheltenham are unbeaten in their last two at home, winning two of their previous three games and coming into this game on the back of two straight victories. The hosts currently sit 18th in the table on 49 points from 42 games, while Tranmere are in 20th spot on 37 points from the same number of fixtures.
Sides are evenly matched
The addition of Josh Davison on loan from Tranmere to Cheltenham Town adds some spice to this fixture, as Rovers’ new boss has overseen a rise in the collective pressing tempo of his side, so there’s a familiarity to that department in their ranks. This tactical clash could be interesting with the visitors pressing hard and Cheltenham looking to play at a more controlled tempo and pick their spots to press.
Cotterill’s men have conceded 26 goals in 20 home League Two fixtures and could be vulnerable in the second half of this game, as Tranmere are likely to be more in the ascendancy after a half-time break. Cotterill’s team have a more organised set-up, so the midfield and wide areas could be where the match is won and lost and backing Cheltenham Town to score over 1.5 goals could be profitable.
Isaac Hutchinson is the main man for The Robins with 16 goals in 39 League Two matches in total, while Charlie Whitaker leads the line for Tranmere with ten goals in 37 appearances.
