This is a rare competitive fixture between East Kilbride and Kilmarnock II and their most recent meeting was in the 2021 Premier Sports Cup, when Kilmarnock won 2-0, but the teams' contrasting make-ups and the available odds all point to a home win.
The KDM Evolution Trophy starts from scratch this term for both teams and there is no greater incentive to start well in the group phase as every point is a step closer to a knockout berth.
That said, East Kilbride have shown far more steel in the Senior ranks than Kilmarnock's B team, who are on a learning curve and will be out to grow together in the coming months.
Killie kids can cause trouble

Jay Hogarth's cool head at the back is a great foil for their more attacking players, who can be relied upon to deliver a threat.
Connor Young offers plenty of pace and an end-product in the wide areas, and John Robertson is a reliable outlet in attack.
The contrast in styles should ensure this is an intriguing chess match, with Killie's width able to open up some gaps for the home side, but also with potential to leave them over-committed if EK hit them on the break. Backing the home team to edge it, and Under 4.5 goals, looks a play here as the League One hosts should have the steel to clamp down on Killie's youthful legs.
